The Stone of Destiny, a sacred slab of sandstone that became a symbol of Scottish nationhood, has left Edinburgh Castle for London, where it will play a key role in King Charles III's coronation.

The first coins bearing the likeness of Britain's King Charles III entered circulation Thursday, The Royal Mint announced. The new 50 pence (60 US cent) piece features an effigy of King Charles III, who ascended the throne after the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II in September.
