Goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani made three stunning saves as Hyderabad FC clinched their maiden Indian Super League title after defeating Kerala Blasters in penalty shoot-out in the summit clash here on Sunday.

Hyderabad beat Kerala 3-1 in the shoot-out after the match ended 1-1 in the regulation and extra time.

For Hyderabad, Joao Victor, Khassa Camara and Halicharan Narzary scored while only Ayush Adhikari found the target in the shoot-out as Kerala suffered heart-break for the third time in the finals.

It was Kattimani's day as his heroics helped Kerala prevailed in the shoot-out. He saved the spot kicks from Mark Leskovic, Nishu Kumar and Jeakson Singh.

ISL final 2022: Hyderabad FC hold nerve to clinch maiden title, beat Kerala Blasters on penalty shoot-out

Kerala Blasters brought Hyderabad FC`s unbeaten run to an end and jumped to the top of the table with a 1-0 win in the Indian Super League at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Sunday.

Alvaro Vazquez (42nd) scored a first-half goal which eventually proved to be the winner as Kerala stretched their unbeaten streak to nine games, moving to the top of the points table with a better goal difference than Mumbai City FC, both being on 17 points from 10 games.

This was the first time they went top of the ISL table, for the first time since the last seven years. Hyderabad, on the other hand, saw their eight-game unbeaten run come to an end as they dropped to the third in the table having 16 points from 10 matches.

Hyderabad had a chance to take the lead early on when Edu Garcia`s free-kick was deflected onto the crossbar by Prabhsukhan Gill after the ball was curled expertly over the wall.

Bartholomew Ogbeche was shown his fourth yellow card in the next minute, meaning he will miss the next match. Kattimani pulled off a brilliant save in the 24th minute to deny Jorge Diaz as Kerala kept knocking on the door.

As the match progressed, both teams tried to carve open a clear-cut chance before Vazquez helped the yellow shirts nose ahead.

Kerala Blasters FC recorded an impressive second consecutive win in their 2021-22 Indian Super League (ISL) campaign after defeating Chennaiyin FC with a 3-0 scoreline at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Wednesday.

The Yellow Army rise to third place in the points table while handing the Marina Machans their second defeat of the season, which sees them drop to sixth.

Jorge Pereyra Diaz (9') gave KBFC the lead by scoring his third goal of the campaign prior to Sahal Abdul Samad (38`) doubling the advantage before halftime. Adrian Luna (79') then scored his first goal of the season to put the result beyond any doubt in the second half.

Jorge Diaz sent his team into an early lead after a lofted through ball found the striker in ample space behind CFC`s backline. His right-footed shot towards the bottom left corner gave no chance to Vishal Kaith to make a save.

Prabhsukhan Gill was called into action just before the half-hour mark who made a brilliant right-handed save to keep away a header from his own defender. Germanpreet Singh had a fabulous opportunity to score the equaliser just before the drinks break but his shot from roughly 12-yards out went wide to the shock of his teammates.

Sahal Abdul Samad then extended the lead by scoring from inside the box after a poor clearance from Kaith handed the ball to KBFC forwards in his own half. Sahal`s initial shot was blocked by Reagan Singh but the midfielder made no mistake with the rebound and calmly placed the ball in the back of the net.

Vazquez then had the chance to score a third before halftime but he could not beat the goalkeeper from a one-on-one situation.

Salam Singh and Lukasz Gikiewicz were sent as halftime changes from Bozidar Bandovic to influence the game. Lalthathanga Khawlhring became the first player to get booked for a foul in the second half which was less eventful than the first. Despite sustained periods of pressure, CFC did not have a clear scoring opportunity until the second drinks break.

Mumbai remained top of the heap but the result means Hyderabad FC, Jamshedpur FC and Chennaiyin FC can now close the gap on the reigning champions. Mourtada Fall was given the marching orders in the second half to make matters worse for the Islanders.

Mumbai almost took the lead in the second minute when an Ahmed Jahouh pass found Cassio Gabriel whose effort was saved by Gill but only as far as the post before it was cleared.

Kerala Blasters registered their first win of the season as they beat Odisha FC 2-1 in an Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Tilak Maidan Stadium here on Sunday.

After facing defeat by similar margins in their opening round game, NorthEast United FC and Kerala Blasters FC drew 0-0 as both teams were locked in an intense battle, in a 2021-22 Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Thursday.

Kerala would rue a great chance to earn full points, having to blame all but themselves for some shabby finishing, especially with a lacklustre display by NEUFC`s forwards.

Ivan Vukomanovic handed young Vincy Barretto an ISL debut on the right-wing as Enes Sipovic made his debut in yellow at the heart of the defence.

NorthEast United, also lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation dropped goalscorer from the last game, Mathias Coureur and opted for 24-year-old Australian centre-back Patrick Flottmann.

While neither side could carve out clear-cut chances in the opening exchanges, NorthEast did look threatening a couple of times. VP Suhair was the architect of Deshorn Brown and Khassa Camara getting half-chances to convert. The latter did slice a couple over the net from distance.

However, the highlight remained a right-footed free-kick from Hernan Santana that went inches above after Enes Sipovic had brought down Deshorn on the run.

At the half-hour mark, Blasters captain Jessel Carneiro swung in a cross that ultimately found Adrian Luna. His chip over the defensive line had Jorge Diaz almost head in the opener of the night.

Both teams remained compact in the first period as both sets of strikers found it incredibly tough to get going in the opposition half.

Five minutes into the second half, Sahal Abdul Samad missed a golden opportunity. Vincy blazed through the pitch after winning a second ball. He squared it into the box but with only the keeper to beat, Sahal grazed it wide.

Vincy kept trying hard to help his forwards but playmaker Adrian Luna was not clinical enough in the box. Both managers switched personnel with Alvaro Vazquez and Coureur arriving into the game for Blasters and NorthEast respectively.

In a change of formation, Sahal was taken off for wing-back Nishu Kumar, returning after being sidelined for up to ten months through injury for the final quarter-hour.
