<p>During the last presidential election, in 2020, Democrats saw gains among male voters, narrowing the gap between Trump and Biden to just two&nbsp;points (50 per cent to 48 per cent), when compared to an 11-point lead that the&nbsp;Republican had in 2016 (52 per cent to 41 per cent).</p>

<p>In the&nbsp;past, men have&nbsp;typically favoured&nbsp;Republican candidates, whereas women generally supported Democrats. This gender divide has been present in every presidential election since 1980, according to the Center for American Women and Politics, which examines historical election data.</p>

<p>A recent study by the Young Men's Research Initiative, conducted from July 9 to 23, found that men aged 18-29 showed more support for female candidates over Trump when policies such as high-paying jobs and affordable housing were highlighted, rather than focusing on the significance of electing the first female president.</p>

<p>"The trend of young men drifting away from Democrats, and their increasing sexism, should be of huge concern to candidates up and down the ticket," the author of the&nbsp;study&nbsp;by&nbsp;Young Men's Research Initiative wrote.&nbsp;</p>
