Two Myanmar nationals, reportedly Rohingyas were apprehended at the Kolkata airport by immigration authorities.

On Saturday late night, two Myanmar nationals identified as – Rafika Khatoon and Noor Kaida Khatoon were about to board a flight to Kuala Lumpur by flight AK 62 when immigration officials asked them to show their passports on suspicion.&nbsp;

On further suspicion, they were questioned and admitted to be Myanmar nationals and having procured an Indian passport through forgery.

A senior police official of the NSCBI said that the two women claimed that they were being accompanied by a third person identified as Kallol Mitra who had got them the Indian passports. ''Prima facie, it seems that Kallol was the one who got the two Myanmar national Indian passports and was also travelling with them,'' said the officer.

Immediately, the three were detained by immigration authorities and handed over to the NSCBI police station.

During the course of investigation, Rafika reportedly told the officers of the NSCBI that she originally stayed in the Tangail Rohingya Refugee Camp in Bangladesh and illegally entered India six months ago and had been staying here since then.&nbsp;

''Rafika told us that she entered India illegally through Bengal-Bangladesh border with the help of agents and later obtained a forged Indian passport. Noor told us that she was originally from the Arakan state of Myanmar and had moved to the Cox’s Bazaar Rohingya Refugee camp in Bangladesh and she too entered India six months ago and obtained an Indian passport,'' the officer said.

Officer alleged that preliminary investigation suggests that the third accused – Kallol Mitra was involved in this racket of providing forged Indian passports to Rohingyas and other Bangladeshi nationals and help them flee from the country.

Meanwhile, those two women have been remanded to judicial custody while the third accused – Kallol Mitra has been remanded to police custody for four days.
