This may have been the case with a disinformation campaign that followed the Prime Minister&rsquo;s announcement regarding suspected Indian involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar (though again no definitive link to a foreign state could be proven),&rdquo; the report said.
India on Tuesday (Jan 28) dismissed allegations of interference in Canada&rsquo;s federal elections, which were mentioned in the same report from the Public Inquiry into Foreign Interference. India&rsquo;s Ministry of External Affairs refuted suggestions that "the government of India was suspected of using proxy agents to provide clandestine financial support to candidates from three political parties in a federal election."

The inquiry, titled 'Public Inquiry Into Foreign Interference in Federal Electoral Processes and Democratic Institutions', was led by Commissioner Marie-Josee Hogue. While the report claimed that India spread disinformation regarding Nijjar&rsquo;s killing, it also said that Canada had found no direct link to a foreign state in the activist&rsquo;s death.

Canadian report vindicates India's stance on Nijjar killing, says no definitive link

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appeared to struggle when asked about the progress of his government's probe into the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Trudeau&nbsp;was at an event in Vancouver&nbsp;on Thursday (Mar 28) when he was asked about how India's cooperation was shaping up on the investigation of Nijjar "when Canada has credible allegations and India expects Canada to complete its own investigation first?"

Trudeau paused for a moment, and went on to repeat his claims on Indian agents' involvement in the killing.

"The killing of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil is something that we all should take extremely seriously. The credible allegations that agents of the Indian government were involved in--that is something that we did not declare lightly, but our responsibility to protect all Canadians from illegal actions by foreign governments is something that, as a country grounded in diversity, we need to take very seriously," he said.
