For the love of Hindi films, ‘Mask’ director Chuck Russell made a film himself. Starring Vidyut Jammwal in a film based on human-animal relationship titled ‘Junglee’, the director made his wish come true.

On the film that released in the theatres today, Vidyut said, “(I felt) It should not be told with western actors. This is about the relationship between a man and an elephant and it is in the Indian DNA for centuries. I was comfortable with it being an Indian story. At first, I did not know why they approached me for this film but I realised it was because I am always dealing with the human and animal relationship angle in my films.”

This is Chuck’s Bollywood debut as he said that both the industries are good at telling larger-than-life stories. He said, “I was jealous of Indian directors when I first discovered Indian films. As a teenager, I found you guys do song and dance in every or any genre. In the West, the musicals were very limited. There are many differences but we (both) can tell larger-than-life stories and our stars can carry it.”

Chuck has seen several Indian films before he decided to make one of his own. He revealed he has seen ‘3 Idiots’, ‘Sultan’, ‘Baahubali’, ‘Raazi’ and ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’.&nbsp;

On how he took the decision of delving into the world of Bollywood, Chuck said, “When I see the world, I want to try to incorporate stories from different cultures. Also, I had realised that if everyone can enjoy a film like ‘The Mask’, we are similar in a way when it comes to consuming entertainment. My mother loved India very much, she passed away just as we started work on the ‘Junglee’. She was a travel agent. I am carrying on the tradition of my family.”

The film from its trailer looks like a family entertainer with some romance, lots of emotions and action; all packed in one. It gives glimpses of a bond between a little boy and an elephant. Boy, Raj and elephant, Bhola, grow up together and become the best of friends.&nbsp;

As age comes to both, Raj becomes a vet while Bhola becomes a mighty tusker who now leads his herd. The trailer then shows Raj and Bhola’s short-lived happy life together as there is a target on the elephant by a poacher racket. Raj then becomes the protector of the jungle and takes on a fight against the poachers.

The film is directed by Chuck Russell and is produced by Vineet Jain and co-produced by Priti Shahani. Along with Jammwal, the film also stars Pooja Sawant, Asha Bhat, Atul Kulkarni and Makarand Deshpande.
