Many users also made references to what is now becoming widely referred to as the “Curse of 35”. The term was originally coined on Chinese social media and is used to describe rumoured layoffs of older workers by major tech companies.&nbsp;

There is no specific law against age discrimination, though state media last year criticised employers for “discriminatory” hiring practices, including those who looked for younger and cheaper workers.&nbsp;

However, this discrimination can even be seen in the Chinese government which rules out candidates above 35 for many of its civil servant positions, reported CNN.&nbsp;

This comes as the Chinese government prepared to raise the retirement age in phases as the population ages, the state media had reported, but no specific plans have been announced to do so yet.&nbsp;

US families have benefited from consistent hiring and growing wages as consumer spending increased at a solid rate in October after accounting for inflation.

Indian job seekers have a sigh of relief, as the hiring prospects are expected to rebound. According to RecruitEX bi-annual reports, internet and disruptive technologies are creating new employment opportunities, particularly, in the areas of ‘white-collar’ jobs. Industry’s focus on fresh hires is pre-dominantly around new digital tools and services. As per reports, online labour, software developers, creative and multimedia professionals, online sales and marketing professionals, writers, translators, data entry operators and more are expected to see a surge in demand. Announcements in the education sector, with focus on improving infrastructure and quality, teachers’ training, blackboards to digital boards amongst others are positive steps towards skill enhancement. By 2020, majority workforce in IT, Auto, Healthcare, Banks and Financial institutions are expected to work with completely different skill sets. Future job opportunities will be high in newer skillsets related to Data Scientists, Data Mining, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, etc. With the current positive outlook for the economy, employers are certain to create more jobs. Large enterprises, medium and small scale industries are designed to scale higher and become major job providers.
