Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa&#39;s niece Deepa Jayakumar has filed nomination for&nbsp;Chennai&#39;s RK Nagar by-election.

RK Nagar has been the constituency of J.Jayalalitha for two terms.

The counting will take place on December 24.

The Election Commission had cancelled the by-elections in Chennai&#39;s RK Nagar constituency earlier this year.

The&nbsp;<a href="http://www.wionews.com/south-asia/india-election-commission-cancels-rk-nagar-bypolls-in-chennai-14360" target="_blank">elections were cancelled after allegations&nbsp;</a>of cash against votes had surfaced.&nbsp;

The Election Commission had then said that the by-elections will be conducted when the effect created by the distribution of money and gifts subsides.&nbsp;

It added that with the passage of the time the atmosphere in the constituency will become conducive to the holding of free and fair elections.&nbsp;

The need for conducting by-elections in the constituency arose after the death of J.Jayalalithaa.
