Indrani Mukerjea&rsquo;s allegations that she was beaten up by Byculla jail officials is true, a medical examination confirms.

&quot;Indrani has received some blunt injuries and other (injuries) as well. Her claims of being beaten up appear to be true as per our check-up,&quot; the medical officer of JJ Hospital, where Indrani&#39;s medical examination was conducted, told PTI on condition of anonymity.

&quot;It (Indrani&#39;s medical report) will be submitted in court, as the medical check-up was ordered by the court,&quot; the officer said.

Mukerjea, who is accused of killing her daughter Sheena Bora, also filed a police complaint today after the special CBI court gave her a go-ahead on the same.

Indrani went to the Nagpada police station at around 12:30 am and submitted a written application, a senior police officer said.

In her complaint, she also alleged that she was hurt when the prison officials cane-charged the inmates after they gathered to vent their anger at the death of a fellow inmate, the officer said.

Mukerjea is among 200 inmates who have been booked for rioting in the Byculla Jail in Mumbai following the death of a fellow inmate, Manju Govind Shette, last week.

A three-member special investigation team (SIT) will be set up by the Maharashtra State Women&rsquo;s Commission (MSWC) to probe the death of Shette, IANS cited an official as saying.&nbsp;

MSWC chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said the SIT would comprise a retired high court judge, a retired IPS officer and a representative of a women&rsquo;s NGO as members.

Following Shette&rsquo;s death, her lawyer had filed an application with a special CBI court in Mumbai saying Mukerjea was beaten up by jail officials and that she had bruise marks all over her body.

Mukerjea also claimed to have crucial information about the killing of Shette. She alleged that the jail staff threatened her with sexual assault if she testified about Shette&rsquo;s death.
