Two&nbsp;accused of the Bahraich violence, Sarfaraz and Mohammad Talib, were shot in the leg by Uttar Pradesh Police while trying to flee to Nepal&nbsp;on Thursday.

One Ramgopal Mishra was killed while several others were injured after a clash erupted between two communities during the Durga idol immersion procession in the Mahasi area of Bahraich district in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

Earlier on Thursday, Bahraich Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr Sanjay Kumar Sharma, said that Ramgopal Mishra, who was killed in a clash that erupted between two communities during the Durga idol immersion procession in Bahraich, died due to "excessive bleeding".

The CMO said, "The information that we have - that man died of excessive bleeding due to 25-30 pellets injuries. There are some injury marks above his left eye and on the toes. Some part of the nails of both feet is also missing."

Appealing to not spread misinformation on social media, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural, Pavitra Mohan Tripathi, said, "To disturb the social harmony, misinformation is being spread on social media—there's been a single death in the incident and the reason for death is also clear in the post-mortem report, which is bullet injuries. An Indian-origin man in Canada has raised concerns about a "disturbing rise” in incidents of hate against Indians in Canada amid the increased tensions between the two countries.&nbsp;

Ashwin Annamalai, who holds Canadian citizenship, said that he was the victim of a racist outburst from a woman who “mistakenly assumed” he was Indian.&nbsp;

However, Annamalai confronted the woman when she asked him to "go back" where he came from. He filmed the conversation with the woman and shared it on X, saying that the “random woman gave him the finger and spewed hate” while he was out for a walk in Waterloo, Ontario.

“You’re not Canadian. I’m being aggressive to you because too many Indians are in Canada and I want you to go back,” she said, looking straight into Annamalai’s camera during her racist rant.

To this, Annamalai responded in French, asking the woman if she could talk in French – one of Canada's official languages.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The elephant&nbsp;skull&nbsp;was found buried along with 87&nbsp;stone tools which were used by prehistoric humans and other materials which were excavated under Dr Ghulam Bhat at the University of Jammu.

The skull was studied by an international team of scientists from the Florida Museum of Natural History, the British Museum, the University of York, and the Natural History Museum (London), along with the University of Helsinki's Dr. Steven Zhang to find out the age and evolutionary context of this megaherbivore. The paper was&nbsp;published&nbsp;in the&nbsp;Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology.

"From the general shape of the skull, it's quite apparent that the elephant belonged to Palaeoloxodon, or straight-tusked elephants, among the largest land mammals that ever lived. Full-grown adults easily stood around 4m tall at the shoulder and weighed 9–10 tonnes," said Zhang, who is a palaeontologist from the University's Department of Geosciences and Geography.

"Yet what's puzzled experts for some time is that the Kashmir skull lacks a thickened, forward-projecting crest at the skull roof which typifies other Palaeoloxodon skulls found in India," he added.

In recent research, it was found that the skull crest in these elephants turned more prominent with sexual and developmental maturity.&nbsp;

"From the size, the wisdom teeth and a few other telltale features of the skull, it is evident that the animal was a majestic bull elephant in the prime of its life, but the lack of a well-developed skull crest, particularly in comparison with other mature male skulls from Europe and from India, tells us we have a different species on our hands here," Zhang said.

According to the research team, the features of the Kashmiri skull matched another obscure skull from Turkmenistan which belonged to a distinct species called Palaeoloxodon turkmenicus.

"What's always been puzzling about the Turkmen skull is that, besides the lack of a prominent crest at the skull roof, its other features are highly similar to the already well-known European species, P. antiquus. And this led a number of experts to suggest that the Turkmen specimen is simply an aberrant individual of the European species," Zhang stated&nbsp;

"But with the Kashmir skull added to the mix, it becomes clear now that the two specimens can be theorized to represent a&nbsp;distinct species&nbsp;that we previously knew very little about, with a broad distribution from Central Asia to the northern Indian Subcontinent," explained Dr Advait Jukar, the lead author of the study.&nbsp;

After measuring protein decomposition in the Kashmir Palaeoloxodon skull's tooth enamel and observing the stone tools found alongside, the team suggested that the skull belonged to a species distinct from other Eurasian Palaeoloxodon, which might be Palaeoloxodon turkmenicus.&nbsp;

As Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau went overboard in linking India to the death of a Sikh separatist leader on Canadian soil last year, he has been now accused of turning a blind eye towards China’s alleged interference in Canadian politics. While speaking before the Foreign Interference Commission, a panel set up to probe interference in Canada’s 2019 and 2021 elections, Trudeau casually labelled China’s efforts to target Canadian MPs as “part of what diplomats do.”

Trudeau highlighted how China has broadly classified Canadian parliamentarians into three different groups in their diplomatic activities, based on their views on the communist country.

Canadian opposition is now attacking Trudeau to let China have its way in the country’s internal affairs. The Leader of the Opposition in Canada, Pierre Poilievre, even said Beijing had helped Trudeau secure victories in the past two Canadian elections, further piling pressure on the embattled PM amidst the diplomatic standoff with India.
