&nbsp;The 51st version of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), has honoured veteran actor, producer, director, and vocalist of Hindi and Bengali film, Biswajit Chatterjee with the Indian Personality of the Year Award on Saturday. 
 
An official statement by Press Information Bureau (PIB), confirmed the news on Twitter which read, " Veteran Actor and Director Biswajit Chatterjee has been conferred Indian Personality of the Year Award, announces Union Minister, @MIB_India, @PrakashJavdekar #IFFI51 Opening Ceremony." 
 
Born in 1936, Biswajit Chatterjee is an Indian actor who is famous for his roles of Kumar Vijay Singh in 1962 thriller movie `Bees Saal Baad`, Raja Amit Kumar Singh in 1964 musical drama `Kohraa`, Ashok in 1964`s romantic flick `April Fool`, Ramesh Kumar in 1965`s `Mere Sanam`, Jeevan in 1967`s Mala Sinha co-starrer thriller film `Night In London`, Shekhar in 1968`s iconic flick `Do Kaliyaan` and Vicky in 1968`s action flick `Kismat`. 
 
He usually co-starred with notable actresses such as Asha Parekh, Waheeda Rehman, Mumtaz, Mala Sinha and Rajshree. Some of his Bengali films include `Chowringhee` (1968) and `Garh Nasimpur` with Uttam Kumar, `Srimaan Prithviraj` (1973), `Jai Baba Taraknath` (1977) and `Amar Geeti` (1983). 
 
In 1975, Chatterjee produced and directed his own film, `Kahte Hai Mujhko Raja`.The 51st International Film Festival of India started in Panaji today. Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant were also present at the event.&nbsp;

The 51st edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is set to start in Goa on January 17, with the opening ceremony at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium at Panaji in Goa. 
 
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said in a statement that for the first time, IFFI is being held in a hybrid mode because of the COVID-19 pandemic. 
 
"Hence, festival delegates will have the option to participate and watch films and other events virtually, sitting in the comforts of their homes. Asia`s oldest and India`s biggest festival will be loaded with a line-up of a total of 224 films from across the globe this year. Italian cinematographer Vittorio Storaro is being honoured with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, at the opening ceremony," the ministry said.

The event will be attended by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar, and Chief Minister of Goa Dr. Pramod Sawant.The event will have celebrated film directors Pablo Cesar (Argentina), Prasanna Vithanage (Sri Lanka), Abu Bakr Shawky (Austria), Priyadarshan (India), and Rubaiyat Hossain (Bangladesh), who are also the Jury members of the festival. 
 
The ministry said that a delegation from Bangladesh, this year`s `Country of Focus` will also be present in the opening ceremony. The Country of Focus is a special segment that recognizes the cinematic excellence and contributions of the country. 
 
The opening of the NFDC Film Bazar will also be virtually inaugurated on the occasion."Held annually, currently in the state of Goa, the festival aims at providing a common platform for the cinemas of the world to project the excellence of the film art; contributing to the understanding and appreciation of film cultures of different nations in the context of their social and cultural ethos, and promoting friendship and cooperation among people of the world.&nbsp; 
The festival is conducted jointly by the Directorate of Film Festivals and the state Government of Goa," the ministry further said. 
 
A selection of 23 feature and 20 non-feature films will be showcased in the Indian Panorama section of the 51st IFFI. Goan movies will be screened under a special Goan section. This apart, 15 acclaimed films will compete for the Golden Peacock award at IFFI`s International Competition section.&nbsp;

The International Film Festival of India (IFFI), has been postponed to the next year, citing COVID-19 pandemic. The 52nd edition of the festival which was scheduled to be held from 20-28 November 2020 in Goa has been postponed to 16-24 January 2021.&nbsp; 
 
Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar released a statement, "It has also been jointly decided to hold the festival from January 16 to 24, 2021 at Goa as per the International Film Festival guidelines and protocols. The festival will be conducted in a Hybrid format i.e. Virtual and Physical format."

This festival will be in a hybrid form, which means it will be both virtual and in physical format. All COVID-19 protocols instructed by the government will be followed.&nbsp; 
 
Last year,&nbsp;IFFI’s Golden Jubilee Edition&nbsp;was&nbsp;celebrated&nbsp;in Goa.&nbsp;which was started by megastars Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth. Around 250 films from various countries were screened at the carnival last year.
