A central government team has said the deaths at Gorakhpur&#39;s Baba Raghav Das Medical College Hospital were not caused by a shortage of oxygen supply.&nbsp;

Eighty-five children have died of encephalitis at the hospital in the last week, with news reports saying many of the deaths were caused by a shortage of oxygen supply.

It is alleged the company supplying oxygen to the hospital stopped doing so because&nbsp;it had not been paid.&nbsp;

&ldquo;As per information and data provided to us, it doesn&rsquo;t look like the deaths have all happened due to shortage of oxygen,&rdquo; the Hindu reported Dr Harish Chellani of Delhi&#39;s Safdarjung Hospital&#39;s paediatric department as saying.&nbsp;

&ldquo;In fact, the number of deaths have reduced compared to last year,&rsquo;&rsquo; &nbsp;the Hindu added Dr Chellani as saying.

The three-member team had visited the hospital on Saturday.&nbsp;

The Hindu reported Dr Chellani as saying they had submitted an interim report on Monday and that they were all set to submit the final report on Wednesday (today) to the health ministry.&nbsp;

The central government team that visited Baba Raghav Das Medical College Hospital comprised three members, with the other two being from Delhi&#39;s Lady Hardinge Medical College and the health ministry&#39;s immunisation department.&nbsp;
