A family in New Zealand was in for a surprise recently when a mischievous parrot stole their GoPro and flew with it.&nbsp;&nbsp;

This led the Verheul family get an unexpected bird's eye view of Kepler Track trail that they had just hiked at Fiordland National Park, South Island. &nbsp;

The family is from Dunedin, which is in the southeast of the country.&nbsp;The GoPro, which was stolen by New Zealand’s native parrot species ‘kea’, survived the ordeal.&nbsp;

In an interview with broadcaster Seven Sharp on Thursday, Alex Verheul said that they had turned on the device to film a group of curious birds, who joined them outside the hut they were staying in. &nbsp;

As the bird had flown in a straight line, they were able to track it, Verheul added.

Finally, the bird settled on some ground and tapped at the gadget repeatedly with its beak. It also seems to have been able to rip off a chunk of plastic from the camera casing. &nbsp;&nbsp;

"We just followed the sound, went down there, could see them hanging out in the tree. They'd obviously heard us coming and abandoned the GoPro -- and my son, he decided to go check the rocks... and there it was, just sitting there, still filming," said Verheul. &nbsp;

"I downloaded (the footage) onto my phone... It was amazing. It was totally unexpected," added Verheul. &nbsp;

An Indian fast-food restaurant owner in Bath called Neeraj Gadher tried to send samosa and a wrap in space, however, the package landed in France.

To achieve this feat, Gadher packed the snacks in a box and attached it to helium weather balloon along with GoPro camera and a GPS tracker.

In an interview with Somerset Live, Gadher said: “I said as a joke once that I would send a samosa into space, and then I thought during this bleak times we could all use a reason to laugh.”

Gadher's package landed in a forest in Cais, France. It was tracked down&nbsp;after one Instagram user called Alex Mathon responded to Gadher's plea of hunting it down.

''I was quite surprised when I received this message on Instagram. I didn’t understand why he contacted me, because it’s still an hour from my house,'' Mathon told&nbsp;La Voix du Nord.

“It was a bit like a treasure hunt, I thought it was crazy! We usually see this kind of story in the United States. Well, this is in a lost field in Picardy,” Mathon told&nbsp;France3.

The job cuts come about three months after the company said it would cut about 15 per cent of its workforce and shutter its entertainment business.

GoPro said it would incur charges of up to $10 million in the first quarter related to the restructuring.
