Google announced on Tuesday it plans to launch a network of free Wi-Fi hotspots across Mexico. The move comes as part of Google&#39;s effort to improve connectivity in emerging markets and to promote its products.

Mexico becomes the third market for Google Station&rsquo;s after India and Indonesia.

Google sees Mexico as a good entry point for the product in Latin America.

According to reports, Mexico saw a rise in the number of people accessing internet by 20 million in the year 2016 as compared to 2013.

&ldquo;We are finding that public Wi-Fi remains still a very important way to get online,&rdquo; Anjali Joshi, vice president for product management at Google noted.

In India, Google Station was launched in 2016 and counts roughly 8 million users a month.
