<p>A Dehi man chopped off his daughters ears because, so he claims,&nbsp;he believed a &quot;ghost&quot; would take her away if he didn&#39;t, ANI reports.</p>

<p>Delhi police arrested the man, 35, named Amrit Bahadur. The incident took place at about 1:30am on Thursday.</p>

<p>Family told the police that the father has been &quot;mentally disturbed&quot; since the death of his baby daughter a few months ago.</p>

<p>Since that happened, he has had hallucationations about a &quot;ghost&quot; who threatened to also take away his second child.</p>

<p>The district chief of police explained some&nbsp;background information to ANI:</p>

<p>&quot;Bahadur works in an unorganised sector as a cleaner. He came to his house around 1:30 am&nbsp;and he was drunk. He was having hallucinations. He felt that something is there that&#39;s compelling him to do this act and if he does not do that then he may lose his daughter. Therefore, he said that he chopped off the girl&#39;s ear. In the meantime, the family woke up and called up the neighbours who informed the police and the girl was rescued,&quot; DCP (Shahdra) Nupur Prasad told ANI.</p>

<p>The girl was referred to AIIMS hospital.</p>
