Germany's main automobile industry body said on Wednesday it expects global car sales to fall by 5 per cent this year, the steepest drop since the financial crisis, and warned of more job cuts in 2020 as a result.

German luxury car maker BMW on Thursday launched the new generation X5 SUV in India at a starting price of Rs 72.9 lakh for diesel variants. The car was launched by BMW Group India acting president Hans-Christian Bartels and legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

While Daimler has been accused in the US for cheating on emission tests, it is contributing to a government-funded project in Germany that aims to cut down on air pollution.
