On Monday, the Supreme Court had asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to complete within two weeks the probe into the alleged killing of 11 girls in the aforesaid case in which Brajesh Thakur is the main accused.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi while posting the matter for hearing on June 3 asked the probe agency to complete the investigation in the said time and also submit a status report in the case.

In Bihar, polling for the 40 Lok Sabha seats at stake is being held in all seven phases, with the last phase scheduled for May 19.

Results will be declared on May 23.

He also targeted Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) `mahagathbandhan` in Uttar Pradesh and said, "The two years of work done under us is much more than what SP and BSP managed in twenty years," he said.

"We never saw or asked anyone`s caste or religion before giving them the benefits of our schemes. A poor person is a poor person. It was not like this under Congress and SP, BSP," Yogi said.

He also talked about the anti-Triple Talaq bill and said that the Congress and SP, BSP only play gimmicks in the name of woman empowerment.

No increase in VVPAT-EVM verification, rules Supreme Court after rejecting Opposition's plea

Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh on Tuesday performed a 'havan'&nbsp;in the presence of Namdas Tyagi also known as Computer Baba and other sadhus at a Maha Yagna organised in Bhopal on Tuesday.

The voters complained they had to stand for more than an hour due to the EVMs developing problems.

Raj Narayan Mahto, presiding officer of booth number 148, however, said that the EVM had developed some glitches which were resolved in an hour and the voting process could begin soon.

"There was some problem with the EVM which we tried to solve but it took longer than usual. The machines do not need to be changed as the problems have now been sorted, voting will resume in a few minutes," said Mahto.

A voting glitch was also reported from booths in West Bengal's Howrah, reportedly after glitches in EVMs and VVPATs.

Voting in West Bengal is being held for seven out of the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state.

Hooghly, Sreerampore, Arambagh, Howrah Uluberia, Barrackpore and Bongaoan are voting in the fifth phase.

These constituencies are spread across three districts of south Bengal - Hooghly, Howrah and North 24 Parganas.

Polling has already been held in 18 seats of the state in the past four phases.

Former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha cast his vote at Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. His son Union Minister Jayant Sinha is contesting against Congress'&nbsp;Gopal Sahu and CPI's Bhubneshwar Prasad Mehta from the constituency.

"In 2014 I decided on my own that I will not contest because you are seeing what happened with others. Now my son is in the fray," said Yashwant Sinha.

All these seats located in the state's Bundelkhand region are currently held by the BJP.

Union minister Virendra Singh Khatik and BJP MP Prahlad Patel are among the 110 candidates in the fray.

Of the 110 nominees, 14 are in the fray in Tikamgarh, 15 in Damoh, 17 in Khajuraho, 21 in Satna, 23 in Rewa, 11 in Hoshangabad and nine in Betul.

Lok Sabha elections for 29 seats in the state are being held in four phases. Polling for six seats was held in the first phase on April 29, while eight seats each will go to polls on May 12 and 19.

In 2014, the BJP won 27 seats in the state while the Congress bagged two seats.

"Maybe it's like United Front (government) earlier", he predicted, referring to the 13-party coalition between 1996 and 1998 supported from outside by the Congress.

The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned to 10 May the hearing of pleas seeking review of its verdict on the Rafale fighter jet case and also the contempt petition against Congress President Rahul Gandhi for attributing the ‘chowkidar chor hai’ remark to the top court.&nbsp;

The apex court said it would take up the pleas seeking review of its December 14, 2018 verdict on the Rafale fighter jet case and the contempt case against Congress president Rahul Gandhi's 'chowkidar chor hai' remark together on May 10.

A special bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, also comprising Justices S K Kaul and K M Joseph, expressed surprise as to how the review pleas and the contempt petition against Gandhi were listed separately on different dates when it had earlier ordered that both the cases will be heard together.

"We are little perplexed that the two cases are listed on two different dates when the order was that these matters will be heard together," the bench said.

During the brief hearing, advocate Prashant Bhushan told the bench that he would argue the review pleas as well as an application seeking production of certain documents.

He said the court should allow his co-petitioner and former Union minister Arun Shourie to argue a separate application seeking perjury action against unknown government servants for allegedly misleading the court during the Rafale case hearing earlier.

Addressing a rally here, the prime minister also slammed CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury for his "derogatory" remarks against Ramayana and Mahabharata.

"It has become a fashion for communists to use derogatory language against Hindu religion," he said.

Yechury recently branded religious epics Ramayana and Mahabharata as specimens of Hindu violence.

The Ramayana and Mahabharata are "filled with instances of violence," the CPI(M) leader had said.

Taking a dig at Banerjee, Modi also said "Didi is banking on her "Mahamilawat gang" to become the prime minister of the country".

"Her dream of becoming the PM has already gone for a toss. Mamata won't be able to bag even 10 seats in Bengal," he added.&nbsp;

Delhi Police on Saturday said that the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-general-elections-2019/kejriwal-slapped-by-man-in-roadshow-in-moti-nagar-aap-accuses-bjp-215940">person who attacked Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal</a> has been an AAP supporter and used to organise rallies and meetings of the party.

"As per his version, the accused, identified as Suresh, got disenchanted from the party due to the behaviour of its leaders and distrust of the party towards the armed forces," said the Delhi Police in a statement.

Refuting the claims made by the Delhi Police, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said that the man was a `Bhakt` of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"This is really shameful given the fact that the wife of the attacker has herself said that he was Modi Bhakt and did not like anyone talking against Modi," said Bharadwaj.

Accusing the Delhi Police of planting the fact that the man belonged to the AAP, Bhardwaj said, "This political statement of Delhi Police is itself a proof that Delhi Police is doing all this on the orders of the Modi government."

Brother-in-law of the accused also said that he was not affiliated to any political party.

"He had once told me that leaders make tall promises but no one fulfills them. But, he isn`t affiliated to any political party," said Suresh`s brother-in-law Hansraj Gadia Lohar.

Asserting that security arrangements are made in consultation with the party functionaries, police said, "Necessary tie-up is made with the organisers to ensure that only persons identified by them are in the reception party or in the proximity of the leader."

Earlier on Saturday, blaming the BJP for the assault on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia asked if Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party chief Amit Shah wanted to get Kejriwal killed."

The cowards who could not break his morale and defeat him in the elections, now want to get rid of him by employing such methods. This Kejriwal will bring your doom, cowards," tweeted Sisodia.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also termed the incident as another "negligence in the security" of CM Kejriwal.

Delhi Police: Man who attacked Kejriwal was AAP supporter

A BJP worker was shot dead by suspected militants in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir Saturday, police said.

Unknown terrorists fired at a member of the BJP, Gul Muhammad Mir, at Nowgam Verinag, a police official said.

The official said Mir was rushed to a hospital in a critical condition where he succumbed to injuries.

The area has been cordoned off to nab the suspects, the official said.

In a tweet on Thursday, the BSP chief said, "PM Modi is moving about freely despite facing numerous serious allegations of the model code of conduct violation, thanks to the ECI. That's why he has started crossing the limit as far as respect for women is concerned. Hasn't the BJP/RSS imposed a lajawab neta upon the country?".

Further targetting the BJP, she said, "Why is the BJP &amp; co. Repeatedly insulting masses by claiming that the Opposition lacked leadership for the post of the Prime Minister? BSP is fighting the ensuing Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh in alliance with SP and RLD.&nbsp;
