Four news organisations who were accused of having prior information about the October 7th Hamas attacks have rejected the claims. Israel had demanded an explanation of the acquisitions from Reuters, Associated Press, CNN and the New York Times. The calls for an explanation came after a pro-Israel media Watchdog called Honest Reporting published an article.

US Presidential race contender Ron DeSantis has claimed credit for saving lives and&nbsp;limiting the number of hostages&nbsp;militant group Hamas kidnapped during its October 7 attack.

Speaking during the Republican presidential debate, the Florida Governor said that there would've been more hostages if he hadn't stepped in to arrange evacuation for 700 people.

<h2>'We acted, and we saved lives'</h2>

DeSantis claimed that after the initial Hamas attack, there would have been a higher number of hostages. He said that Florida citizens were also under attack and US President Joe Biden "left them stranded".&nbsp;

"We had Floridians that were over there after the attack. [Biden] left them stranded. They couldn’t get flights out. I scrambled resources in Florida. I sent planes over to Israel, and I brought back over 700 people to safety. There could've been more hostages had we not acted," said DeSantis.&nbsp;

"We acted, and we saved lives," he added.

Amid&nbsp;a devastating military operation in Gaza, with a tragically high civilian death toll, the Biden administration has chosen to move forward with a $320 million arms deal for Israel.

The deal centres&nbsp;on the transfer of Spice Family Gliding Bomb Assemblies, a type of smart bomb known for its high accuracy, from a US subsidiary of an Israeli defence company to the Israeli government, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

<h2>What are Spice Bombs?</h2>

Spice (Smart, Precise Impact, Cost-Effective) bombs are air-to-ground weapons developed by&nbsp;Rafael USA, the American branch of one of Israel’s most prominent arms manufacturers.&nbsp;

These bombs belong to a family of guided munitions designed to enhance the precision of unguided bombs, effectively transforming them into GPS-guided munitions.

Spice bombs use advanced guidance kits, integrating INS/GPS (Inertial Navigation System/Global Positioning System) guidance and electro-optical seekers for precise final targeting.

This technology significantly enhances their accuracy and targeting capabilities, making them more effective in striking intended locations.

The same bombs were used during the Balakot airstrikes in which&nbsp;the Indian Air Force on February 26, 2019, targeted the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist camp in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as a response to the Pulwama attack.&nbsp;

The Pentagon has not disclosed the extent of military aid and equipment provided to Israel since the onset of the military operations on October 7.&nbsp;

The transfer coincides with growing international calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, as the civilian death toll resulting from Israeli air strikes continues to mount.

The Joe Biden administration has warned schools and colleges in the United States that the nation is witnessing an "alarming rise" in antisemitism and Islamophobia. The authorities have urged educational institutions to take immediate action against the rising threats and harassment.

In a letter on Tuesday (Nov 7), the US Education Department said that in the wake of the Israel-Hamas war, there was a "renewed urgency" to fight discrimination against students.

"Antisemitism, Islamophobia and all other forms of hatred go against everything we stand for as a nation," said Education Secretary Miguel Cardona in a statement.

However, hate crimes, unfortunately, are nothing new in the United States.&nbsp;

In the wake of history-changing events like the 9/11 terror attack, the Covid pandemic and now the Israel-Hamas war, the 'land of opportunity' as it was once called becomes the hot bed for Xenophobia — the fear or dislike of anything which is perceived as being foreign or strange.

In the wake of the ongoing war in the Middle East, the US has seen an "alarming rise" in cases of antisemitism and Islamophobia, as per the Biden administration.

In a recent statement released on the 25th Anniversary of the International Religious Freedom Act, President Joe Biden said: "Here at home, we are facing a rising tide of antisemitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of discrimination that are fuelling violence and hate across our country."

However, the US President said that "in the wake of Hamas' brutal terrorist assault against Israel," they are "working with community partners to identify, prevent, and disrupt any threats that could harm the Jewish, Muslim, Arab American, Palestinian American, or any other communities."

After Hamas militants launched their attack on October 7, incidents of hate crimes started cropping up very rapidly.

One case that left the world shocked involved a six-year-old child, who became the victim of a senseless hate crime borne out of fear.

UK labour lawmaker quits over party's Gaza stance

In a recent interview, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was slammed by the country’s former leader Ehud Olmert who said the incumbent PM has been “destroyed emotionally” due to the massive failure of national security and is now miscalculating his plans for post-war Gaza.

This comes after Netanyahu sought to take overall control of Gaza’s security for an “indefinite period” once Hamas is crushed, a move which has been discouraged even by Israel’s biggest supporter in the West, the United States.

<h2>What did the former Israeli PM say?</h2>

During an interview with Politico published on Wednesday (Nov 8), Olmert argued Netanyahu was in a state of “nervous breakdown,” and looking for ways to not get thrown out of office for failing to safeguard the country from Hamas’ deadly October 7 attack on southern Israel.&nbsp;

“(Netanyahu) has shrunk. He’s destroyed emotionally, that’s for sure. I mean, something terrible happened to him. Bibi has been working all his life on the false pretense that he is Mr. Security. He’s Mr. Bullshit,” the former Israeli PM told Politico.&nbsp;

He added, “Every minute he is prime minister he is a danger to Israel. I seriously mean it. I am certain the Americans understand he is in bad shape.” Olmert served as the Israeli PM from 2006 to 2009 as a leader of the liberal Kadima party.&nbsp;

Speaking about the incumbent Israeli PM, Olmert also said that Israel is steering off course strategically, insisting that the priority should be negotiating with the international community about an endgame which includes talks on the formation of a Palestinian state, rather than a full military oversight over Gaza.
&nbsp;
In an interview with ABC News, on Monday (Nov 6), Netanyahu said, “Israel will for an indefinite period have the overall security responsibly,” adding, “because we have seen what happens when we do not have it.”&nbsp;

Olmert warned Netanyahu’s plan for keeping control over post-war Gaza sounded similar to going back to 2005 when Israel exercised military rule over the Palestinian enclave and how it is not in Israel’s “interests to oversee the security of Gaza”.&nbsp;

“It is in our interests to be able to defend ourselves in a different way than we did before the October 7 attack. But to control Gaza again? No,” Olmert told Politico.

<h2>US against Israel’s possibly ‘reoccupying’ Gaza</h2>
