The feature makes the app more secure when it is working on a public Wi-fi.

Though the social media giant has not disclosed it to its users that it owns the wireless networking app, the users can find the information on Onavo website. They can even expand the "description" on the Apple App Store and read till the bottom to find out that the app is owned by Facebook.

The app keeps a track of the applications installed on the device, use of those applications, websites visited by a user and the amount of data used by the user.

It will enable Facebook to keep a track of the apps and other social media platforms even when the users are not using the Facebook app, helping the social media to keep a track on the apps made by rivals.
