She was the second-youngest of eight siblings. She later met Norman Caterham, a British Army lieutenant colonel, at a dinner party in 1931. The couple married and eventually lived in several countries, including Hong Kong.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The couple later returned to Britain and raised their two daughters. Norman died in 1976. "Never arguing with anyone, I listen and I do what I like," she said.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Her family also has a history of longevity. Her sister Gladys lived to the age of 104.</p><p>Although Caterham currently holds the record for the oldest living person, she is not the oldest person ever verified.
