A French man has been granted the ‘right to be boring’ when the judge in a Paris court ruled in his favour and determined that his former employer was wrong to fire him for refusing to join his colleagues for the end-of-week drinks.&nbsp;

The man who is referred to as Mr T in the court documents worked as a senior adviser for Cubik Partners, a consultancy firm in Paris, France, between 2011 to 2015 said a report by the Daily Telegraph. Mr T did not agree with the company’s idea of “fun” which included going out for drinks after work once a week.&nbsp;

In 2015, the firm fired him for "professional inadequacy" as he refused to participate in these outings and accused him of being boring,&nbsp;a poor listener, and difficult to work with. However, Mr T argued that he is entitled to his “critical behaviour” and refusal to participate in “company policy based on incitement to partake in various excesses”. Mr T also said&nbsp;that he does not agree with the company’s idea of “fun”.&nbsp;

Earlier this month, the French Court of Cassation ruled in Mr T’s favour after a seven-year legal battle and ordered the Cubik Partners to pay 2,574 pounds (approximately $3085).&nbsp; 
 
In its ruling, the court reportedly said that not everyone can “forcibly participate in seminars and end-of-week drinks frequently ending up in excessive alcohol intake, encouraged by associates who made very large quantities of alcohol available.” Mr T also claimed&nbsp;that the company's&nbsp;"fun" values also included&nbsp;"humiliating and intrusive practices” like&nbsp;obligating him&nbsp;to share a bed with a coworker&nbsp;during work seminars.&nbsp;

Referring to the company’s idea of “fun” the court said that it infringed on the employee’s right to dignity and respect of private life. Furthermore, the judge also said that Mr T was entitled to “freedom of expression” including his refusal to participate in activities which were his “fundamental freedom” and are also not grounds for dismissal.&nbsp;However, the sacked employee&nbsp;has demanded another 395,630 pounds (nearly $473,955) which will be considered during the next hearing.

The CEO said that the layoffs will extend to the next year as the firm has not yet concluded the review as per its business conditions.

"Our annual planning process extends into the new year, which means there will be more role reductions as leaders continue to make adjustments," he said.

As per reports, the firm was all set to wipe out nearly 10,000 employees. The confirmation was given via a memo written by the senior president of devices and services.&nbsp;

Later, Jassy said that the employees were notified prior in the company's devices, books business and a few on Amazon's "People, Experience and Techology" organisation offering voluntary buyouts.&nbsp;

"Leaders across the company are working with their teams and looking at their workforce levels, investments they want to make in the future, and prioritising what matters most to customers and the long-term health of our businesses."&nbsp;"We will prioritise communicating directly with impacted employees before making broad public or internal announcements," he further added.&nbsp;

The chief officer claimed&nbsp;that it's a bit difficult for the firm to draw reviews this year due to the economy being in a continuously challenging spot along with the firm's heavy recruitment in the past years.

Many employees were given two months or 60 days in hand to find new jobs for themselves. And if they failed to do so, the company will provide them with a severance package based on their tenure, Bloomberg reported.&nbsp;

The CEO has been putting continuous efforts into reducing the firm's exigencies amid its slow economic growth especially after the firm reported its smallest revenues in the holiday quarter.&nbsp;

Amazon joins&nbsp;Twitter, Meta Platforms Inc and Salesforce Inc in sacking&nbsp;its employees this year. Amazon earlier also froze its hiring process and even shut its several small businesses and programmes.&nbsp;

Amid slow economic growth, mass layoffs at Amazon across teams will continue till 2023, says CEO Andy Jassy 

All India Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Trade Unions Co-ordination Committee (AIHALTUCC) on Monday started its indefinite strike for 'fair and early settlement of wage revision of the employees'.

Speaking to ANI, General Secretary of Hindustan Aeronautics Employees Association (HAEA) Suryadevara Chandrashekhar said: "The HAL executives have taken a gross hike of 35 per cent and 110 per cent to 140 per cent in perks and we are just demanding parity." He said that so far 11 rounds of negotiations had been held with the management and wage committees but nothing fruitful was achieved as the management was claiming that the company's financial condition was not good.

Chandrashekhar said that the AIHALTUCC had "no other option as they are forced to go on agitation path, for achieving fair and early wage revision of the employees."

On October 1, in a letter to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Chandrashekhar had said that the firm "did not respect the advice of the Defence Ministry and the Conciliation authorities to negotiate and resolve the issue in an amicable way."

Responding to the letter, the HAL had said that the proposed indefinite strike by firm's trade union was illegal and workers would&nbsp;lose various company benefits if they go ahead with it.

The statement further read that the AIHALTUCC has decided to resort to an indefinite strike to fulfil their "untenable demands" and the unreasonable nature of their demands had been brought out in a number of meetings.

HAL added that the management was open for discussions and conclusion of wage revision effective from January 1 could be achieved only with the co-operation of the unions based on realistic and affordable demands.
