Washington Post citing unidentified individuals close to the investigation reported that sensitive documents linked to nuclear weapons were among the files seized during the raid.&nbsp;Trump attempted to dismiss the claim. He said&nbsp;that the "nuclear weapons issue is a hoax" and even insinuated&nbsp;that the FBI was "planting information".

According to the Wall Street Journal, among the 20 boxes of items hauled away by FBI investigators were photo binders, a handwritten message, and Trump's grant of amnesty to Roger Stone, a former president's ally.

Trump declared in a statement on Thursday that his attorneys were "cooperating fully" and "the government could have had whatever they wanted, if we had it."

On Friday, the Justice Department sought a federal judge to unseal the search warrant, overruling Trump's objections.&nbsp;

Trump, who is mulling a presidential run in 2024, said he would not obstruct the release of the warrant while lamenting the "unprecedented political weaponization of law enforcement" by "radical left Democrats and possible future political opponents, who have a strong and powerful vested interest in attacking me, much as they have done for the last 6 years."

The raid, which came just as Trump was weighing another White House run, has sparked a political firestorm in the already bitterly divided country. Top Republican leaders have flung their support behind the 45th US president, and several former advisers urged him to immediately announce his candidacy for the 2024 elections.

Republicans were quick to allege foul play. Senator Lindsey Graham reportedly said that&nbsp;a probe into a past president so close to an election&nbsp;“is beyond problematic”. However, Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic House Speaker, said “no person is above the law”.

Former vice president&nbsp;Mike Pence voiced “deep concern” and claimed the Justice Department’s raid reeked of “partisanship”.

Another Republican, Kevin McCarthy, accused the justice department of “weaponised politicisation”.&nbsp;Yet another Republican Elise Stefanik referred to it as a “dark day in American history”.

“If the FBI can raid a US President, imagine what they can do to you,” Stefanik tweeted.

AFP reported that FBI chief Wray has declined to provide a reason for the raid.

However, US media said that agents were carrying out a court-authorized search in relation to the alleged improper handling of confidential information delivered to Mar-a-Lago after Trump departed the White House in January 2021.
