Disney World and other US&nbsp;amusement parks updated their mask policy following the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) this week.

Masks have been made optional in outdoor areas and pool decks at Walt Disney Inc's Disney World in Orlando, Florida, effective May 15, but are still needed for entering rides and at indoor locations, according to the guidelines posted on its website.

Universal Orlando has also relaxed its mask policy for guests at outdoor locations. "Face coverings will remain required at all indoor locations, including restaurants, shops, and indoor hotel public areas,"&nbsp;the company said in a statement on Friday.

SeaWorld Entertainment Inc&nbsp;said on Saturday masks will no longer be required for guests at SeaWorld Orlando, SeaWorld San Antonio, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Discovery Cove, Aquatica Orlando, Aquatica San Antonio, Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA for customers who are fully vaccinated.

"All park employees will be required to continue to wear face coverings,"&nbsp;a SeaWorld spokeswoman said on Saturday.

The CDC on Thursday advised that fully vaccinated people do not need to wear masks outdoors and can avoid wearing them indoors in most places.

A new Avengers-themed area featuring a Spider-Man ride, roaming superheroes and a shawarma food cart will open at Walt Disney Co`s Disneyland Resort in California on June 4, the head of the company`s parks division said on Thursday. 
 
The debut will come weeks after the resort in Anaheim, about 35 miles southeast of Los Angeles, begins welcoming back guests for the first time in a year starting on April 30. 
 
Disneyland, the original Disney theme park, and neighboring California Adventure were closed in March 2020 to help prevent spread of the novel coronavirus. The shutdown thwarted plans to open the Avengers Campus in July 2020. 
 
Josh D`Amaro, chairman of Disney parks, experiences and products, announced the new opening date as he offered a glimpse of the Avengers attractions during a pre-taped video shown to reporters. 
 
In a new Spider-Man ride called "Web Slingers," which combines physical and virtual environments, guests will team with Spidey to capture out-of-control Spider-Bots. "You will swear Peter Parker`s right there," said Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, referring to Spider-Man`s alter ego. 
A swinging Spider-Man character also will perform acrobatics above the park`s rooftops. The character is a "stuntronic" robot designed to perform somersaults while flying 60 feet in the air, Disney said. 
 
Black Panther, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, Iron Man also will found in the park, as well as a Quinjet, an advanced aircraft used by the Avengers. 
"There`s only one place you can see one of our Quinjets," Feige said. "It`s either in the movie or it`s here." 
 
Food options will include a cart offering shawarma, a nod to a scene at the end of the 2012 "Avengers" movie when various superheroes ate the Middle Eastern dish together after saving the world.

California's health secretary on Friday agreed to hear more input from theme park operators before issuing reopening guidelines, a step that further delays Walt Disney Co's plans to welcome visitors back to Disneyland. 
 
Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger also resigned from a California task force on reopening businesses during the coronavirus pandemic, the Sacramento Bee newspaper reported late on Thursday. No reason was given and Disney did not respond to requests for comment. 
 
Earlier this week, Disney said the continued closure of Disneyland had exacerbated the financial strain on its parks division from the pandemic. The company, which is in the process of laying off 28,000 employees, has urged California to let Disneyland reopen. 
 
On Thursday, a trade group that represents Disneyland, Comcast Corp`s Universal Studios and others, said it had reviewed California`s draft guidelines and then asked the state to hear more recommendations from the industry. On Friday, Dr. Mark Ghaly, California`s health secretary, said he would continue talks with theme park operators. 
 
"Given the size and operational complexities of these unique sectors, we are seeking additional input from health, workforce and business stakeholders to finalize this important framework - all leading with science and safety," Ghaly said in a statement. 
 
Disneyland has been closed since March. The company had announced the resort would reopen on July 17 but later delayed the move indefinitely, saying it had to wait for the state`s guidance. All other Disney theme parks, including Walt Disney World in Florida, have reopened with limited attendance, mask requirements and other safety measures.
