<p>The discussed study, authored by a different team led by Matteo Fabbri of the Field Museum of Natural History, was published in the journal&nbsp;<em>Nature</em>&nbsp;in 2020. In the new study, the authors said that the 2020 study might have significant flaws.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We showed that the data set they used for the method was not appropriate—a lot of statistical methods only work if the data has particular characteristics. The data in Fabbri et al did not have the necessary characteristics," Myhrvold said.</p>

<p>"So the density of thigh and rib bones doesn't tell you whether a dinosaur could dive," Myhrvold said.</p>

<p>While the new study does not settle the debate, Myhrold said their objective was to prove that the Spinosaurus did not hunt underwater. Their findings suggest that the dinosaur was not a swimming or diving predator that chased fish.</p>

<p>A Russian schoolboy stumbled over the remains of a&nbsp;250 million years old dinosaur called&nbsp;ichthyosaur, a reptile&nbsp;considered to be among the largest animals to ever have lived on Earth.</p>

<p>Dmitry Sirenko, a seven-year-old boy was playing along with his sister on the coast of Russky Island, located in the far east of Russia, when he came across a few unusual stones.</p>

<p>Sirenko said ''I love dinosaurs a lot, and have always dreamed of finding the bones of a real dinosaur.''</p>

<p>The boy's miraculous discovery was confirmed by a team of local paleontologists who were dispatched to the site. They believe the peculiar markings on the stones were the traces of an ichthyosaur, a massive prehistoric marine reptile.</p>

<p>The&nbsp;stone plate with the fossil was transported to the Primorsky Aquarium for further study.</p>
