<p>Members of the Opposition INDIA bloc walked out of the Upper House (Rajya Sabha) of the Parliament after they were not allowed to discuss the disqualification of wrestler Vinesh Phogat from the Paris Olympics 2024.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Chairman of the House, Jagdeep Dhankhar came down heavily on the MPs, especially Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader, Derek O'Brien, who shouted to be allowed to speak on the issue.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“They (Opposition) think they are the only ones whose hearts are bleeding. The entire nation is in pain because of the girl. Everyone is sharing the situation but to monetise it, politicise it, is the greatest disrespect to the girl. That girl has a long way to go.”</p>

<p>Scolding the TMC MP, Dhankhar added: “How dare you shout at the chair and senior leaders are not taking note of it. Your conduct is the ugliest in the House. Next time I will show you the door.”</p>

<p>Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was the first to stand up and raise the 'disqualification' issue. Kharge said his party and alliance partners wanted to know who was behind the chain of events that led to India missing out on a gold medal opportunity.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, Dhankhar did not allow Kharge to take up the issue, which led to O'Brien creating a ruckus in the House.&nbsp;As uproar increased in the House, Opposition leaders staged a walkout.</p>

<p>A day after being disqualified from the 50kg category for being 100 grammes overweight, Phogat on Thursday (Aug 8) announced her retirement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Mother, wrestling won and I lost to it, please forgive me. Your dreams, my strength, everything is shattered, I don't have any more strength left in me," she said in a social media post.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A total of 15 lawmakers on Thursday&nbsp;were suspended from the Indian parliament over "unruly conduct" in one of the biggest mass suspensions of Members of Parliament this year. One MP from Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the parliament and a total of 14 MPs from Lok Sabha, the lower house of Indian parliament directly elected by people were suspended.</p>

<h2><strong>Who all have been suspended from the Indian parliament?</strong></h2>

<p>Derek O'Brien, former quizmaster-turned-politician from Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC) was the lone Member of Parliament suspended from the Rajya Sabha.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, a member of Lok Sabha from southern India's Thoothukkudi constituency from Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party was suspended.</p>

<p>Other than Kanimozhi, Congress party's Manickam Tagore, a member of Lok Sabha from Tamil Nadu state's Virudhnagar constituency was also suspended.</p>

<p>V K Shrikantam, Beni Bahan, K Subramanyam, S Venkateshan, Mohammed Javed, TN Prathapan, Hibi Eden, S Jothimani, Ramya Haridas and Dean Kuriakose were also suspended from the Lok Sabha.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Among the 14 MPs suspended, nine are from Congress, two from CPM, and one each&nbsp;from DMK, CPI (M) and TMC.</p>

<p>All the suspensions are linked to the Opposition's protests within Parliament over Wednesday's security breach in Lok Sabha.&nbsp;</p>

<p>West Bengal registered a total voter turnout of 73 per cent&nbsp;on Monday amid widespread violence during the panchayat polls.</p>

<p>However, the voting per cent may go up as many voters were still waiting to cast their votes.</p>

<p>The violence that erupted during the polls claimed the lives of eight people while injuring 43 others.</p>

<p>The areas affected by the violence were North and South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, Burdwan, Nadia, Murshidabad and South Dinajpur districts.</p>

<p>The clashes erupted between the members of Trinamool Congress and opposition members. The protesters attacked the supporters of opposition parties and even targetted the booths with crude bombs.</p>

<p>The violence in the state broke out despite the deployment of over 60,000 security personnel.</p>

<p>The opposition parties accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of conducting a reign of terror and destroying democracy.</p>

<p>CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said,&nbsp;"First they didn't allow people to file nominations. Second after filing nominations, TMC started threatening the candidates to withdraw. The people who didn't withdraw were attacked. This is nothing but a complete destruction of democratic process,".</p>

<p>The TMC, on the other&nbsp;hand, responded to the opposition claims by saying that the violence caused this year was far less compared to the previous rule of the left.&nbsp;</p>
