<p>Former India fast bowler David Johnson passed away at 52 in a tragic incident, several reports confirmed. The former Karnataka seamer fell from his balcony on the fourth floor of his Bengaluru apartment, and though he was rushed to a nearby hospital, the doctors declared him dead. Johnson was suffering from several health-related issues over the past year and was regularly visiting hospitals. Those close to the information revealed he was discharged from a hospital three days ago.</p>

<p>According to a report in the Indian Express, Johnson is survived by his wife, further stating his financial situation wasn’t healthy for a while and that he sought help from near and dear ones, including extended family and friends.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, a few of his former colleagues, including spinner Anil Kumble and BCCI secretary Jay Shah took to social media to pay condolences. While Kumble wrote on X that he is saddened by the passing away of his former cricket mate, Shah said everyone remembers his contribution to Indian Cricket.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On the back of impressive performances for Karnataka in domestic cricket during the mid-90s, Johnson was called to the Indian Test side for the maiden Border-Gavaskar series in 1996, making his debut against Australia in Delhi. He later travelled with the team to&nbsp;South Africa, and played in the first Test in Durban. That, however, was his last game for India at the top level.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During that decade, he was part of the deadly pace attack from his state, which included Javagal Srinath, Venkatesh Prasad and Dodda Ganesh.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Although Johnson continued to play in domestic till the 2001/02 season before he announced his retirement, he reappeared on the cricket stage in 2009, when KSCA launched the Karnataka Premier League.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report also suggests that Johnson did some odd jobs for survival, even moving to Chennai before former India batter and KSCA administrator Brijesh Patel recalled him and reinstated him in the cricketing circuit.</p>

<p>Per people close to the information, Johnson even tried his hand at coaching (in Bengaluru) but owing to different issues, he failed to prolong his career.&nbsp;</p>
