In his place, Aparna Iyer, another experienced Wipro veteran with 20 years of experience, will assume the role of CFO, having most recently served as Senior Vice President and CFO of Wipro's cloud services division.

Iyer is set to take on the responsibilities of CFO starting September 22, while Jatin Dalal will continue in his role until November 30, according to a statement made by Wipro.

Jatin Dalal, who took on the role of CFO in 2015, alongside CEO Thierry Delaporte, navigated Wipro through the challenging years of the pandemic, during which the demand for digital services surged. Wipro, headquartered in Bengaluru, experienced substantial stock growth, with a 57 per cent hike in 2020 and an 85 per cent increase in 2021. Despite this, the company saw a decline in these gains in the past year as demand decreased.

In July, Wipro, along with other major IT companies, expressed concerns about an uncertain business environment as clients reduced spending. The company anticipated that revenue from IT services would remain relatively stable in the current quarter.

Indian IT firms have encountered delays in closing deals, reductions in order volume, and cancellations due to recession concerns in their crucial U.S. and European markets.

Nevertheless, Goldman Sachs recently forecasted a revival in the industry's revenue growth, attributed to constrained demand and the implementation of generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

In response to these changes, CEO Thierry Delaporte commended Aparna Iyer's significant contributions to Wipro's financial transformation in recent years. She played an essential role in shaping the company's financial strategy, investment programs, and transformation initiatives, Delaporte noted.

Wipro's stock has seen a modest increase of just over 9 per cent year-to-date, which lags behind the broader Nifty IT index's 15 per cent rise.

Among stocks, Indiabulls Housing Finance slumped by 34.4 per cent after the Delhi High Court agreed on Friday to hear public interest litigation (PIL) alleging fund diversion and accounting irregularities by its promoters. It closed the day at Rs 255.50 per share.

Private lender Yes Bank tumbled by 14.3 per cent to Rs 41.75 per share despite gets a nod from the Reserve Bank of India for further capital raising.

Reliance Capital fell by 12.3 per cent after its Chairman Anil Ambani told shareholders during the annual general meeting that the company will exit the lending business.

Troubled renewable energy solutions provider Suzlon dropped by 10.2 per cent despite denying reports that it has filed for bankruptcy and will soon be approaching the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).

The other major losers were IndusInd Bank which slipped by 6.1 per cent, State Bank of India by 3.6 per cent, ICICI Bank by 3.4 per cent, Zee Entertainment by 3.3 per cent and Cipla by 3.2 per cent. HDFC, Sun Pharma, Axis Bank and Britannia too closed in the red.

However, HCL Technologies gained by 3.6 per cent, Infosys by 2.8 per cent, Tata Consultancy Services by 2 per cent and Tech Mahindra by 1.6 per cent. UPL, ITC, Reliance Industries, Adani Ports and Nestle India too were in the positive zone.

The 30-share barometer fell 112.26 points, or 0.34 per cent, to 32,810.86 in opening session.

The gauge, however, turned positive to trade 42.34 points, or 0.13 per cent, higher at 32,965.46. It had lost 994.82 in the previous five sessions.

The NSE Nifty also opened 45.15 points, or 0.44 per cent, lower at 10,049.10.

Sectoral indices led by metal, healthcare, realty, consumer durable and banking stocks were trading in the negative terrain, falling by up to 1.38 per cent.

The laggards were Bharti Airtel, NTPC, Kotak Bank, M&amp;M, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, Sun Pharma and ITC, falling up to 1.42 per cent.

Tata Steel, Adani Ports, Tata Motors and Infosys were among the top gainers, rising up to 3 per cent.

Meanwhile, on a net basis, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold shares worth Rs 191.52 crore, while foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth Rs 292.23 crore on yesterday, provisional data released by the stock exchanges showed.
