The film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is based on the DC comics by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. It’s set to shoot later this year after James Gunn’s Superman wraps filming.&nbsp;

Announcing that they have their Supergirl, James Gunn had said earlier, “Milly was the FIRST person I brought up to Peter for this role, well over a year ago, when I had only read the comics. I was watching ‘House of the Dragon’ and thought she might have the edge, grace and authenticity we needed.”

Gunn has previously teased that the new take on the superhero will be “much more hardcore” than previous interpretations of the character.&nbsp;

On what’s going to be different this time around, he added, “She’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.” Notably, he has been saying the same for almost all characters in the DC Universe, ever since he’s taken over as the boss.&nbsp;

In the new iteration, Supergirl travels across the galaxy to celebrate her 21st birthday with Krypto the Superdog. Along the way, she meets a young woman named Ruthye and winds up on a murderous quest for revenge.

Gunn and Safran are producing it while&nbsp;Chantal Nong will executive produce with Ana Nogueira writing the screenplay.

Australian film director Craig Gillespie is in talks to direct the live-action `Cruella,` with Emma Stone playing the protagonist, who covets the furs of the 101 Dalmation pups to provide herself a perfect coat.

Set in the early 1980s, Stone will portray the role of infamous fashionista villain Cruella De Vil, who hates dogs. De Vil was first seen in the 1961 animated classic `101 Dalmatians.

`According to Deadline, American writer Alex Timbers was on board to direct the project, but the `Mozart of the Jungle` co-creator ran into scheduling issues and dropped this project.

Timbers, who is also a theatre director, has two major productions next year.

Famously known for directing the Tonya Harding biopic, `I, Tonya`, Gillespie has also helmed movies like `The Finest Hours`, `Million Dollar Ar,` Fright Night remake, and `Lars and the Real Girl.`
