Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi in poll-bound Gujarat on Friday and alleged that the latter did not want the &quot;truth&quot; behind the multi-crore Rafale deal and Jay Shah issue to come out before the Assembly election in his home state.

He also alleged that the NDA government was delaying the Winter Session of Parliament as Modi was not ready to discuss the Rafale and Jay Shah issues in the House before the Gujarat polls.

&quot;I would ask Modiji three questions (on the Rafale deal). First, is there a difference in the cost of planes in the first and the second contract (signed with a French firm) and did India pay more or less money as per the second contract?

&quot;And, has the industrialist (whose company has formed a joint venture with the French firm), who was given the contract, ever manufactured planes?,&quot; he asked while addressing a public gathering here in Gandhinagar district.

The Congress leader also sought to know if the due procedure was followed while inking the deal with France last year to procure the Rafale fighter jets.

&quot;And a more important question, did you follow the due government procedure? Why the (then) was the defence minister was seen catching fish in Goa? And, was an approval from the Cabinet Committee on Security taken (for the mega-deal)?&quot; he asked.

The Congress vice-president alleged that the prime minister was avoiding answering these questions due to the fear that the &quot;truth&quot; would come out before the crucial polls in his home state.

&quot;Narendra Modiji is not replying to these questions because he wants that the truth of Rafale and Jay Shah should not come before the public ahead of the Gujarat elections,&quot; he said.

&quot;Rafale is a matter related to the Indian Air Force, national security, martyrs. Modiji will have to answer these questions before the people of the country and Gujarat,&quot; he said.

The 47-year-old Amethi MP said while the media persons asked him a lot of questions, they did not do the same with the prime minister over the Rafale and Jay Shah issues.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to grasp a basic of the economy -- no amount of growth is enough if it is not creating jobs, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said on Thursday.&nbsp;

He then went on to make yet another concerted attack on the prime minister and his government.&nbsp;

Gandhi was addressing the annual general meeting of the Punjab-Haryana-Delhi Chamber of Commerce in New Delhi.&nbsp;

Gandhi added that the prime minister wiped out 86% of cash from the economy -- he was referring to demonetisation -- without consulting anybody.&nbsp; 
&nbsp; 
And that Modi did so with a very big chest but with a very small heart.&nbsp;

Gandhi said all cash is not black and all black (money) is not cash but the prime minister failed to grasp that.&nbsp;

Continuing in that vein, Gandhi said China outperforms us in job creation. And that it creates 50,000 jobs a day, while India creates only 4,100.&nbsp;

PM failed to grasp basic of economy, growth without jobs not enough: Rahul Gandhi

Days after he praised India&#39;s prime minister Narendra Modi for the surgical strikes across the Line of Control, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today accused Modi of exploiting the strikes for political gains.&nbsp;

&quot;You (Modi) are hiding behind the blood of soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir and those who carried out the surgical strikes for India. You are exploiting their sacrifices, which is very wrong,&quot; Gandhi said at a rally in the poll-bound state of northern Uttar Pradesh state.&nbsp;

&quot;The Indian army has done its job for the country, you do yours,&quot; the Congress Vice President said at the rally which marked the conclusion of his month-long &#39;Deoria to Delhi &nbsp;kisan yatra&#39; in the state.&nbsp;

On September 30, the Congress vice-president had said he had &nbsp;supported Modi&#39;s midnight operation against five terrorist launchpades across the Line of Control (LoC), the defacto border between India and Pakistan, &nbsp;calling it his &#39;first action worthy of prime minister.&#39; &nbsp;

He also accused India&#39;s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) &nbsp;of neglecting the cause of farmers and soldiers. &quot;You should help the farmers of the country. You should provide more money to the

BJP hit back, calling Gandhi&#39;s remarks &quot;highly irresponsible&quot; and &quot;a new low in Indian politics.&quot; The party also alleged that Gandhi was frustrated with the praise the PM was getting from everywhere for conducting the strikes.&nbsp;

Sidharth Nath Singh, the party&#39;s national secretary, said: &quot;His statement is a new low in Indian politics. It is not only condemnable but highly irresponsible coming from the vice president of Congress party which fought for independence. Surgical strikes happened across the LoC but Rahul Gandhi has done surgical strike on his party.&quot;

Days after he praised India's prime minister Narendra Modi for the surgical strikes across the Line of Control, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today accused Modi of exploiting the strikes for political gains. "You (Modi) are hiding behind the blood of soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir and those who carried out the surgical strikes for India. You are exploiting their sacrifices, which is very wrong," Gandhi said at a rally in the poll-bound state of northern Uttar Pradesh state. "The Indian army has done its job for the country, you do yours," the Congress Vice President said at the rally which marked the conclusion of his month-long 'Deoria to Delhi kisan yatra' in the state. On September 30, the Congress vice-president had said he had supported Modi's midnight operation against five terrorist launchpades across the Line of Control (LoC), the defacto border between India and Pakistan, calling it his 'first action worthy of prime minister.' He also accused India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of neglecting the cause of farmers and soldiers. "You should help the farmers of the country. A shoe was today hurled at Rahul Gandhi, vice-president of Congress, India&rsquo;s opposition party, during his &lsquo;Kisan Yatra&rsquo; in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. 
 
The Special Protection Group (SPG) men immediately swung into action and surrounded Gandhi after the incident. 
 
The police arrested a youth in connection to the incident and took him to the city police station. The accused has been identified as Hari Om Mishra, a resident of Hargaon. 
 
Gandhi was riding in an open-top vehicle in the Sitapur district campaigning for his party for the upcoming elections in the state. 
 
He has been organising discussions in villages to interact with farmers and address their issues. 
 
Gandhi managed to save himself by a whisker as the shoe flew past him.
