There are very few countries, but a few, that have raised the issue of not mentioning this word or that word.”&nbsp;

"But the fact is, that in Glasgow that was adopted, the language is there. And I know... Egypt doesn't intend to be the country that hosts a retreat from what was achieved in Glasgow," he added, referring to last year's COP summit in Scotland.

The Paris Agreement, which was signed in 2015 at a United Nations&nbsp;summit in France, was hailed as a major step forward in the global effort to combat climate change. It committed countries from across the world to attempt to keep the average global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees centigrade.&nbsp;

Since then, however, greenhouse gas emissions have increased, and scientists warn that if immediate and significant reductions are not made, the world may miss the target. On Thursday, Kerry told CNN that the world cannot avoid the damaging impact of climate crisis without private money since governments are not willing to pay. He then went on to defend&nbsp;his plan of raising cash for climate action by selling carbon emission offsets to companies, while reiterating, “There is not enough money in any country in the world to actually solve this problem.”

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Friday (October 28) defended his decision to skip COP27 climate change summit. Sunak said he was skipping the climate meet because of 'pressing' economic problems.

The UK is emerging from an economic turmoil triggered by former PM Liz Truss' economic policies. The turmoil resulted in Truss' resignation. Sunak has a task on his hand to restore confidence in the UK's financial system.

In an interview with Sky News a day after Downing Street announced he was skipping the summit, Sunak stressed he was "very personally committed" to environmental issues.

"I just think at the moment it's right that I'm also focusing on the pressing domestic challenges we have with the economy, and I think that's what people watching would reasonably expect me to be doing as well," Sunak said.

The COP27 UN climate change conference is due to take place in Egypt on November 7-8. Last year, the conference had taken place in Glasgow, England.

Sunak has nonetheless drawn flak for his decision to skip COP 27 meeting.

Keir Starmer, leader of Labour Party in the Opposition, said that Sunak's decision to skip the conference was an 'absolute failure of leadership'. Green Party leader Caroline Lucas said that Sunak's absence was a "shameful way to end the UK's COP Presidency"
