A video featuring the leader of the outlawed terrorist organisation Pakistani Taliban (TTP), Noor Wali Mehsud, has surfaced online where he can purportedly be seen speaking over a wireless walkie-talkie giving directions to terrorists involved in the attack on a Pakistani security check post on the Afghan border in the Chitral district.

In the video, Noor Wali specifically claims he made himself present “upon the insistence of his friends” to oversee the entire attack. This is the first appearance of the TTP Emir since early January 2023.

Two Pak soldiers lost lives

“Owing to the heightened threat environment, own posts were already on high alert. The valiant soldiers fought bravely and repulsed the attacks inflicting heavy casualties to the terrorists. During the fire exchange, twelve terrorists were sent to hell, while a large number has been critically injured,” Pakistan military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said.

The attack in Chitral came shortly after the main border crossing, the Torkham border, between Pakistan and Afghanistan, was closed on Wednesday after forces on both sides exchanged fire.

As of Thursday, the border is still closed with hundreds of trucks loaded with essential goods stranded on each side.

Pakistan has repeatedly asked Afghanistan to control the movement of armed groups and accused the Taliban government of not doing enough. The Taliban denies it shelters TTP fighters on Afghan soil.

Torkham border crossing is located along the Grand Trunk Road on the international border between the two countries, and is&nbsp;between the Pakistani city of Torkham and Afghanistan. &nbsp;

Disputes linked to the 2,600 km border have been a bone of contention between the neighbours for decades and the crossing has been closed several times in recent years, including a closure in February that saw thousands of trucks laden with goods stranded on each side of the border for days.

Viral video shows Pak Taliban chief giving orders to terrorists involved in attack on check post

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the integrated check post (ICP) of the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/south-asia/pakistan-to-charge-20-from-every-pilgrim-on-november-9-260780">Kartarpur Corridor</a> on Saturday, thereby facilitating smooth, visa-free movement of Indian pilgrims to Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan.

The pilgrims have been reaching Pakistan via Wagah border to visit the sacred site at Kartarpur which is the birthplace of Guru Nanak.

Separately, the pilgrims will reach the Gurudwara through the Kartarpur corridor which will be inaugurated tomorrow. The corridor will facilitate the smooth passage of pilgrims who are visiting the holy site.

PM Modi to inaugurate integrated check post of Kartarpur Corridor tomorrow

The Home Ministry of India on Monday designated Dera Baba Nanak land check post, which will be the exit and entry point for visiting Kartarpur Sahib gurdwara in Pakistan, as an authorised immigration checkpoint.

The Home Ministry in a notification issued on Monday said, "In pursuance of sub-rule (b) of rule 3 of the Passport (Entry into India) Rules, 1950, the Central &nbsp;Government hereby designates Dera Baba Nanak Land Check Post of Distt. Gurdaspur, Punjab State as an authorized Immigration Check Post for entry into/exit from India with valid travel documents for all classes of passengers."

Govt also appointed Chief Immigration Officer, Dera Baba Nanak as the "Civil Authority" for the purpose of the said order for the Immigration Check Post.

Last week, the second meet on the Kartarpur corridor took place at the home ministry. The meet was chaired by Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gaubaand attended by Punjab Chief Secretary, Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria &amp; DG BSF RK Misra.

Briefing the reporters after the meeting Punjab chief secretary Karan Avtar Singh had then said legal modalities will be completed within a month.

India has already issued a notification for land acquisition for the highway and is working on the plan for an integrated check post(ICP). Punjab govt is expected to provide all the land for the highway &amp; ICP by mid-March.

Indian and Pakistani officials will be meeting on March 13 to discuss the modalities of the corridor. New Delhi has suggested an India Pakistan engineers meet before that meet and has proposed two dates —February 15 or 16 for that.

Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria has the Kartarpur corridor as a "corridor of faith" that will build trust between the two countries.
