Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has urged the United Nations to appoint a special envoy to Kashmir, as he claimed that the struggle of the people in the region is being &quot;brutally suppressed&quot; by India.

In his maiden address to the UN General Assembly yesterday, Abbasi accused India of indulging in terror activities against his country and warned of a &quot;matching response&quot; if it &quot;ventures across the LoC (Line of Control)&quot; or acts upon its doctrine of limited war against Pakistan.

&quot;The Kashmir dispute should be resolved justly, peacefully and expeditiously. As India is unwilling to resume the peace process with Pakistan, we call on the Security Council to fulfil its obligation to secure the implementation of its own resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir,&quot; he added.

&quot;To this end, the UN secretary general should appoint a special envoy on Kashmir. His mandate should flow from the longstanding but unimplemented resolutions of the Security Council,&quot; Abbasi said.

He also said that from day one of its creation, Pakistan has faced unremitting hostility from its eastern neighbor (India).

&quot;India refuses to implement the unanimous resolutions of the UN Security Council, which mandate a UN supervised plebiscite to enable the people of Jammu and Kashmir to freely decide their destiny,&quot; he said.

&quot;Instead, India has deployed nearly 700,000 troops in occupied Kashmir to suppress the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiris to exercise their right to self-determination. This is the most intense foreign military occupation in recent history,&quot; Abbasi said as he kicked up the Pakistan&#39;s rhetoric against India.

&quot;Shotgun pellets have blinded and maimed thousands of Kashmiris including children. These and other brutalities clearly constitute war crimes and violate the Geneva Conventions,&quot; he charged.

Abbasi demanded an international investigation into the alleged atrocities in Kashmir and sending of an inquiry commission to Jammu and Kashmir in order to secure the punishment of those &quot;responsible of human rights violation&quot; and provide justice and relief to victims.

However, he stated that Pakistan remains open to resuming a comprehensive dialogue with India to address all outstanding issues, especially Kashmir and discuss measures to maintain peace and security in the region.

Deeply concerned about 'deteriorating' situation along Kashmir LoC: UN chief

An Indian army soldier and two militants were killed in an encounter in north Kashmir&#39;s Bandipora district today.

The encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Naidkhai area of Bandipora after security forces launched a search operation following specific intelligence inputs, an army official said.

He said two militants were killed in the encounter, while an army soldier also lost his life.

The identity and group affiliation of the slain militants is being ascertained, he said.

Meanwhile, the official said, another encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Sopore area of Baramulla district.

The army apprehended a local terrorist in the Tujjar village following which the security forces cordoned off the area. Two more terrorists were reportedly holed up in the area.&nbsp;

Kashmir: Indian Army neutralises two militants in Bandipora

Continuing the blame game, India and Pakistan today summoned deputy high commissioners of each other to express concern over ceasefire violations even as India protested the manner in which the information of eight of its officials in Islamabad was made public, thereby, endangering their security and safety.

The Ministry summoned the deputy high commissioner of Pakistan and conveyed the strong concern of the Government of India on the continued violation of ceasefire along the International Border and the Line of Control by Pakistan, MEA Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said in New Delhi.

&quot;Despite calls for restraint, Pakistan forces have committed 16 ceasefire violations since 3 November 2016 alone. As a result, there have been three fatal casualties during this period among Indian security forces.

&quot;The government conveyed that such loss of life is unacceptable and is strongly protested. In addition, the injuries to civilians during the shelling by Pakistan forces are deplorable and strongly condemned,&quot; he said.

Swarup said India has also protested the manner in which the photographs of eight officials of the High Commission of India in Islamabad were prominently displayed in newspapers in the wake of factually incorrect allegations by Pakistan government, and conveyed that this is against basic norms of diplomatic practice and courtesy, besides having the potential to endanger their security and safety.

&quot;It is expected that the Pakistan side will desist from such actions in the future and will ensure the safety and security of all members of the high commission of India in Islamabad and their families,&quot; Swarup added.

Earlier, in Islamabad, foreign office (FO) said director general (South Asia &amp; SAARC) Mohammad Faisal summoned Indian deputy high commissioner J P Singh to &quot;strongly condemn the unprovoked ceasefire violations on November 8 by the Indian Forces on the Line of Control (LoC) in Khuirata and Battal sectors&quot;.

This is the sixth time in over two weeks that the Indian deputy high commissioner was summoned to the FO.

The FO said the violation by India resulted in the death of four civilians, including a woman and a 10-year-old girl, besides causing injuries to seven others.

On his part, Singh protested against the unprovoked firing from Pakistani Rangers, saying it was primarily to give cover to infiltrators.

He also said casualties on the Indian side include both civilians and security forces in the ceasefire violations by the Pakistan.

India, Pakistan summon each other's envoys once again

India&#39;s Border Security Force&nbsp;(BSF) on Friday said at least 15 Pakistani rangers were killed in retaliatory firing by Indian forces along the International Border.

On October 25, at least two to three&nbsp;Pakistani armymen were&nbsp; believed to have been killed in retaliatory firing by Indian troops in the Noushera sector of Rajouri district.

15 Pakistan Rangers killed in firing along border: India's Border Security Force

India's Border Security Force: Pakistani troops violate ceasefire yet again

For the second day in a row, Pakistan on Wednesday summoned India&#39;s deputy high commissioner and lodged a strong protest over alleged &quot;unprovoked firing&quot; by Indian forces along the working boundary and the Line of Control.

It was second day in succession that Indian envoy J P Singh was summoned by the Foreign Office over violation of ceasefire.

&quot;The Indian deputy high commissioner was summoned by the director general (South Asia &amp; SAARC) today. A strong protest was lodged against the unprovoked ceasefire violations,&quot; the Foreign Office said in a statement.

The protest was lodged over violation of ceasefire agreement at the working boundary in Chaprar and Harpal sectors and on the LoC in Bhimber sector on 25-26 October, the statement said.

Pakistan said that two civilians were killed and nine others injured in the firing.

&quot;It was conveyed to the Indian side that it should investigate the incident and share the findings with Pakistan, instruct its troops to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit, refrain from intentionally targeting the villages and maintain peace on the working boundary and the LoC,&quot; FO said.

India had on Tuesday said Pakistan army violated the ceasefire by targeting Indian Army positions with mortar and small arms fire in Noushera sector of Rajouri district, prompting the Army to give a &quot;befitting response&quot;.

There have been over 40 ceasefire violations from the Pakistani side since the Indian side carried out surgical strikes inside Pakistan occupied Kashmir targeting terror launching pads, post the attack on an Army camp in Uri on September 18.

For the second day in a row, Pakistan on Wednesday summoned India's deputy high commissioner and lodged a strong protest over alleged "unprovoked firing" by Indian forces along the working boundary and the Line of Control. It was second day in succession that Indian envoy J P Singh was summoned by the Foreign Office over violation of ceasefire. "The Indian deputy high commissioner was summoned by the director general (South Asia & SAARC) today. A strong protest was lodged against the unprovoked ceasefire violations," the Foreign Office said in a statement. The protest was lodged over violation of ceasefire agreement at the working boundary in Chaprar and Harpal sectors and on the LoC in Bhimber sector on 25-26 October, the statement said. Pakistan said that two civilians were killed and nine others injured in the firing. "It was conveyed to the Indian side that it should investigate the incident and share the findings with Pakistan, instruct its troops to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit, refrain from intentionally targeting the villages and maintain peace on the working boundary and the LoC," FO said. India had on Tuesday said Pakistan army violated the ceasefire by targeting Indian Army positions with mortar and small arms fire in Noushera sector of Rajouri district, prompting the Army to give a "befitting response". There have been over 40 ceasefire violations from the Pakistani side since the Indian side carried out surgical strikes inside Pakistan occupied Kashmir targeting terror launching pads, post the attack on an Army camp in Uri on September 18. Pakistan&#39;s media regulatory authority today decided to enforce a complete ban on Indian TV and radio contents from Friday and warned that the licences of those found guilty of violating the ban will be suspended.

The ban comes amid tensions between the two neighbouring countries regarding India&#39;s conduct of &quot;surgical strikes&quot;&nbsp;across the Line of Control and subsequent violations of ceasefire.&nbsp;

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) decided to ban airing of Indian content from October 21 at the request of the federal government, it said.

&quot;The ban will come into effect at 3 PM on October 21, and radio and television stations which violate the ban will have their licences suspended without a prior show cause notice,&quot; PEMRA said in a statement.

The ban extends to all Indian content on cable and radio being aired in Pakistan.

The authority also decided to cancel one-sided rights given to Indian media by the government of former military dictator Pervez Musharraf in 2006.

PEMRA has already decided to get tough with Indian content&nbsp;after complaints that most of the local channels were using more than five per cent foreign contents as allowed by it.

The regulator on August 31 said that strict action would be taken against the channels airing foreign content more than the prescribed limit and traders selling illegal DTH sets.

The decision was implemented from October 16 as PEMRA launched crackdown on those channels using foreign contents illegally.

Earlier in October, PEMRA granted its chairman Absar Alam final authority to revoke or suspend licences of companies illegally using Indian content.

Tensions have run high between India and Pakistan since the terror attack on an Indian army base in Uri on September 18.

Later, India said it carried out &quot;surgical strikes&quot; across LoC and destroyed terrorist launchpads on September 28.

Pakistan has denied any surgical strikes took place, but said two of their soldiers were killed in cross-border firing by Indian Army.
