India has taken up the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/army-jawan-killed-as-pakistan-violates-ceasefire-in-jammu-and-kashmirs-sunderbani-sector-239480">killing of an Indian civilian</a> during ceasefire violation by Pakistan. New Delhi made a strong demarche to Pakistan High Commission regarding the ceasefire violation on Tuesday. 
 
Calling the "deliberate targeting" of Indian civilians by Pakistan forces "against all established humanitarian norms and professional military conduct", New Delhi asked Islamabad to desist from such acts immediately and asked Pakistan to "investigate into such heinous acts of killing innocent civilians".

In 2019, 14 Indians have been killed in more than 1410 ceasefire violations by Pakistan so far.&nbsp;

New Delhi also asked Islamabad to "adhere" to the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding for maintaining peace and tranquillity along the Line of Control and the International Boundary.

Rahme Begum, resident of Dassi Baktoor, died in&nbsp;shelling by Pakistani army in Gurez sector of North Kashmir. In Tangdhar, nine civilians have been injured since Tuesday in ceasefire violations by Pakistan.

While the Indian side is giving a befitting response to <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/pakistan-violates-ceasefire-in-jammu-and-kashmirs-rajouri-district-one-woman-succumbs-to-injuries-239656">Pakistani ceasefire violations</a>, it has also launched a search operation to ensure that no infiltration happened during ceasefire violations.

The deceased jawan was identified as 34-year-old Naik Krishan Lal, a resident of Ghagriya village in Akhnoor. Two Pakistani soldiers were also killed in retaliatory action by the Indian Army.

Earlier, a&nbsp;10-day-old baby also sustained injuries in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan. The baby later succumbed to the injuries. 
 
Meanwhile, Indian Deputy High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia was summoned by Pakistan on ceasefire violations. He clearly told that they were initiated by the Pakistani side to provide support to infiltration attempts and the Indian side responded appropriately.&nbsp;

Ahluwalia said India deplored and condemned the deliberate targeting of innocent Indian civilians by Pakistani forces, pointing out these actions were against established humanitarian norms and professional military conduct.

Director General (South Asia and SAARC) Mohammad Faisal summoned Singh and "condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations" by Indian forces, the Foreign Office said.

In a statement, it said that firing on February 4 in Nezapir, Nikial and Karela sectors killed two civilians, including 18-year-old Rafaqat Ali and 25-year-old Tasleem Begum, and injured seven others including two children.

Faisal claimed that the Indian forces along the LoC and the Working boundary are continuously targeting the civilian populated areas with heavy mortars and automatic weapons.

In 2018, the Indian forces have carried out more than 190 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, resulting in the deaths of 13 civilians, it said.

"This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed 1970 ceasefire violations," he claimed.

Faisal said the deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and against the human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws.

The repeated ceasefire violations by India "are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation," he asserted.

Faisal urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement and investigate the repeated incidents of ceasefire violations, the statement said.

He also urged the Indian side to allow the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.

India maintains that UNMOGIP has outlived its utility and is irrelevant after the Simla Agreement and the consequent establishment of the Line of Control.

In January, the Foreign Office summoned India&#39;s deputy high commissioner on January 15, 18, 19, 20 and 21.
