A famous BBC radio presenter from the UK recently lost her life and her family has claimed that the reason behind her untimely death was blood clots caused due to the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/coronavirus-vaccine">AstraZeneca vaccine</a>.

Lisa Shaw, 44,&nbsp;got vaccinated against the deadly coronavirus. A week after taking the AstraZeneca jab, she started suffering from severe headaches and then fell seriously ill a few days later.

Shaw&nbsp;was then admitted to the Royal Victoria infirmary in Newscastle and found she had developed blood clots.

She was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for internal bleeding and a few days later she was declared dead.

"We are devastated and there is a Lisa-shaped hole in our lives that can never be filled. We will love and miss her always," Shaw’s family said in a statement.

"It's been a huge comfort to see how loved she was by everyone whose lives she touched, and we ask for privacy at this time to allow us to grieve as a family."

While there has not been an official statement from the hospital, this has fuelled the rising concerns about the side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The UK government has been urging people under the age of 45 to take alternatives of the AstraZeneca vaccine such as Moderna, Pfizer, etc. Several other cases from around the world have also reported the development of blood clots after the AstraZeneca vaccine, and a few countries had also imposed a temporary ban on the vaccine till an investigation was concluded.

The JCVI said it was taking the "precautionary approach" for adults aged 30-39.

Britain's Health Department had said earlier that "medicines regulator MHRA continues to be that the benefits of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine outweigh the risks for the vast majority of adults," while adding that, "The JCVI keep their recommendations under review in line with the latest scientific advice."

Last month, the committee had advised alternatives to <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/american-civil-rights-activist-urges-biden-to-give-astrazeneca-vaccine-to-india-383443">AstraZeneca's</a> vaccine for those under-30 and added that pregnant women should get the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine due to a "vanishingly" rare side effect of blood clots in the brain.

"We are advising a preference for one vaccine over another vaccine for a particular age group, really out of the utmost caution, rather than because we have any serious safety concerns, "Wei Shen Lim, chair of Britain's Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) had informed.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) had earlier cautioned that there was a "remote possibility" of rare blood clots occurring, asserting that "a causal link with the vaccine is not proven but is possible and further analysis is continuing" while repeating that the vaccine's benefits outweigh the risks.

Germany, Canada, Spain and France had earlier limited the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine over reports of blood clotting after the jabs.

“People who have received the J&amp;J vaccine who develop a severe headache, abdominal pain, leg pain, or shortness of breath within three weeks after vaccination should contact their health care provider,” the FDA and CDC said.

Meanwhile, the Australian government has also decided against buying the single-dose Johnson &amp; Johnson coronavirus vaccine as a way to accelerate its immunisation programme.

Health Minister Greg Hunt said on Tuesday the Johnson &amp; Johnson vaccine is similar to the AstraZeneca&nbsp; product, which Australia already contracted to buy.
