Director Erik Poppe says his latest film is part of the healing process in the aftermath of one of Norway`s most horrifying events - the massacre of 69 people, many of them teenagers, at a youth camp on the island of Utoya. 
 
Poppe`s &quot;U-July 22&quot;, premiering at the Berlin film festival, is a retelling of the shootings by a far-right gunman on July 22, 2011. Filmed on another island close to Utoya in one take, it follows &quot;Kaja&quot; - a fictional teenager - as she runs for her life through woods, along beaches and in the sea. 
 
The audience sees her desperately searching for her younger sister, comforting a dying teenager and singing to herself as she cowers in fear against a cliff. Shots ring out, but the gunman is only fleetingly visible, from a distance. 
Poppe said some had criticised his movie as coming too soon, but young survivors of the attack had told him he should not wait. 
 
&quot;I would say that if it doesn`t hurt to watch this movie then it`s too late, so I would say for sure it`s hard but it`s also a part of the healing process,&quot; Poppe said at a news conference. 
 
&quot;We decided to make fiction for ethical reasons so the parents, sisters and brothers don`t need to see and think: Is that my sister or my brother? Is that my daughter?&quot; he said, adding that psychologists had been on location to help actors and residents of the island where it was filmed. 
 
&quot;Looking around Europe today, realising neo-fascism is growing day by day, we need to remember what took place out on that island, what right-wing extremism can look like.&quot; 
 
Survivor Ingrid Marie Vaag Endrerud said at the news conference the film`s story was one many Norwegians found impossible to tell. 
 
&quot;When I try to explain what I experienced, I am only able to tell it from a distance and that`s where film and the art of film can tell a story another way that writing or speaking cannot,&quot; she said. 
 
&quot;This is hate in its purest form and as society we have to stand against it.&quot; 
 
Andrea Berntzen, 19, who plays Kaja, remembers being scared at the news of the massacre when she was 12. 
 
When she heard about the making of the film she initially felt it was too soon, but later changed her mind. 
 
&quot;Reading the script and learning that the focus would be on the youth, the teens on the island, rather the man who has been behind all of this was really important to me,&quot; she said. 
 
&quot;U-July 22&quot; is one of 19 films competing for the Golden and Silver Bears, which will be awarded on Saturday.

Bollywood is going places, truly. After Baahubali and Padmavat songs being played at NBA halftime, now Bollywood is wooing Germany. A German Orchestra recently gave a tribute of sorts to Karan Johar&#39;s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai as it played the title song at the ongoing Berlin Film Festival. 
 
The Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra played the iconic tune from the film and even had the audience clapping along. As they ended they were greeted with thunderous applause from the audience.&nbsp; 
 
Johar who is at the festival shared the video on his Twitter page and stated how honoured he felt. &quot;Was so excited and honoured to see this!!!!!(sic),&quot; Johar wrote.

Wes Anderson&rsquo;s stop-motion animation film &quot;Isle of Dogs&quot; will get a world premiere at the Berlin film festival on February 15, 2018.&nbsp;

The movie is set in a&nbsp;dystopian future in Japan where all dogs have been exiled to a quarantine island after a mysterious &ldquo;canine flu&rdquo; grips the country.

&quot;Isle of Dogs&quot;&nbsp;follows the lead character, a 12-year-old named Atari as he searches for his dog, Spots.

Voices of the most-active dogs have been lent by actors Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton and Tilda Swinton.

Even before the trailer launch, the movie saw itself steaming in controversy when the makers decided to cast American voices in place of Japanese even though the movie is set in Japan. It has since been announced that Canadian-Japanese actor&nbsp;Koyu Rankin will voice the key role of Atari, the boy.&nbsp;

Wes Anderson had previously directed &quot;The Grand Budapest Hotel&#39; which was also successful in securing the opening gala spot at the Berlin film festival in 2014. &quot;The Grand Budapest Hotel&quot; had gone ahead to win the most Oscar nominations that year -- and won four, for&nbsp;best makeup, production design, costume design and score.

&quot;Isle of Dogs&quot;&nbsp;is due for release on March 23 in the US, March 29 in Australia, and March 30 in the UK.
