The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has &quot;unofficially&quot; retired the No 10 jersey worn by master blaster Sachin Tendulkar all through his One Day International (ODI) career.

A BCCI official said the board&nbsp;was retiring the jersey for international matches because of the unnecessary controversy and criticism if any other player wore it.

The decision was reportedly taken in agreement with the top players from the Indian team.

Sachin had last donned the No.&nbsp;10 jersey in March 2012 when he played his last ODI against Pakistan.

Mumbai fast bowler Shardul Thakur wore the jersey for his ODI debut at Colombo in August 2016, prompting criticism of the player and the BCCI on social media for trying to be like Sachin.

The BCCI has clarified that the jersey could be worn by players when they played for an India A or a non-international list A match.

Sachin Tendulkar retired in November 2013 after a 24-year-long illustrious career.&nbsp;
