At least 13 people, including a woman and four children, were killed when their van collided with a truck in Pakistan's Balochistan province, police said Monday.

The accident took place on Sunday night when the van was heading to Zohb from Quetta when it collided with a truck in Ali Khel area in the province, Ary News reported.

At least 13 people were killed and seven others were injured, police said, adding that five members of a family are also included in the deceased in the dreadful accident.

Following the accident, the rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital, Qila Saifullah.

Local police have cordoned off the area and further investigation into the matter was underway.

Road accidents are common in Pakistan. Most of the mishaps are caused due to reckless driving and bad roads.&nbsp;

A team comprising senior counter-terror officials have been formed to investigate an ISIS suicide attack targeting Hazara Shias in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province, even as the community continued their sit-in for a third day on Sunday demanding better security measures.

Meanwhile, the Hazara community members are continuing a sit-in on the main Western Bypass road in Quetta to protest against what they term as the persistent failure of law enforcement agencies to provide them security.

The sit-in started soon after the suicide blast ripped through the market on Friday. Women and children are among those who have been staging the sit-in.

The protesters demand an effective security plan to ensure the protection of the Hazara Shia community.

Chief Minister Khan visited the families of the victims Saturday and said that his government is taking responsible steps to root out terrorist activities from the province. He also requested the protesters to end their sit-in.

Despite reassurances, the protesters refused to call off their sit-in until all their demands were met, including the arrests of those involved in the attack, steps for protection of the community, and implementation of NAP without discrimination.

Hazaras make up a significant minority group in Pakistan and most of them live in Quetta.

There have been similar terror attacks in Hazarganji area of Quetta in the past. The market serves as a wholesale market for fruits and vegetables.

The National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) last year stated that 509 members of the Hazara community were killed and 627 injured in various incidents of terrorism in Quetta from January 2012 to December 2017.

Pakistan forms team to probe ISIS suicide attack in Hazarganji

A van carrying smuggled petrol collided with a truck on Tuesday in Pakistan's Balochistan province, killing at least seven persons and burning three cars parked nearby and a police check post, authorities said.

The accident occurred a day after 20 people were killed when two buses collided head-on in Pakistan's Punjab province that also left 30 others injured.

The smuggled petrol was hidden in the makeshift tank of the van. The van was travelling from the provincial capital of Quetta to Sibbi, police officials were quoted as saying by the Khyber news.

After the collision, five persons died on the spot and the two injured were shifted to a hospital where they succumbed to their injuries, police said, adding three cars, parked nearby, also caught fire along with the police check post.

Two policemen who were posted at the Mach check post also suffered burns while trying to put the fire out, the report said.

After the accident, officials reached the spot and tried to control the blaze. It took the authorities three hours to clear the Mach-Bolan highway.
