Warner, who hasn't had good outings lately in Tests, even at home, feels the pressure of getting dropped ahead of India tour next year. However, his team members and also Ricky Ponting have&nbsp;came out in his support and backed David to come good against South Africa in the remaining two Tests.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Boxing Day Test, Warner opened up about this whole event and said, "We reached out in February. So we have no idea how it went on this far and only CA can answer that and they'll probably give you the same thing that they always give everyone else, they don't really give an answer."

"Leading into the Perth Test, my mental health probably wasn't where I needed it to be at to be 100 percent. And that was challenging at the time. If I had it my way we would have had it all sorted. From the CA point of view, I didn't really have any support. My team-mates and the staff in our team were absolutely amazing, and my family and friends - they really got me through that period," Warner said on Saturday.

Despite being knocked down so many times recently, a thought of not playing for Australia never crossed Warner's mind. Instead, he looks focused to get his form back and deliver for his team at the top of the order.

"I've never had that in me to quit or to back down," he said. "I feel like I can get through anything. At the time I was focused on scoring runs and [doing] the best job I could for the team. I'd still do the same thing again because that's what I'm about, I'm about going out there and doing the best I can for the team. It is what it is now - I've moved on and I'm in a great positive mindset now."

Meanwhile, Australia is currently leading the three-match Test series against South Africa 1-0, having won the first Test at the Gabba in Brisbane inside two days. The next test - the Boxing Day Test will be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) starting December 26th. This Test also happens to be Warner's 100th Test match.

"From my point of view, banning someone for life from leadership is just fundamentally wrong," Smith told media on Sunday afternoon. "David served his time like I did."

David is regarded as one of the leaders in that group, having already proved his worth in the past by winning IPL title in 2016 with Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Now, with Australia slated to play South Africa in the three-match Test series starting December 17th at the Gabba, Smith wants Warner to keep this noise away and get on with the batting. He believes since Warner has decided to let go of the review – of allowing him to get in line for leadership roles, David can do what he does best – smashing runs at the top.

"For us, we know he's a leader around the group, and on and off the field he's doing a tremendous job. It's been a difficult one for him, it's been a difficult week,” Smith said.

"David has said he's done and dusted (with the review) and wants to get on with it. He's got our full support. Hopefully he can have a really big series for us against South Africa with the bat."

Scott Boland, the Aussie seamer who got picked as injured Pat Cummins’ replacement, showed his worth yet again. Bowling his first over in the 2nd innings, Boland cut short West Indies’ chase by picking up three wickets without conceding a single run. With some&nbsp;tight line and length and with the pink ball doing an extra bit, the county veteran broke into West Indies top order.

He first picked up the man in form, their captain Kraigg Brathwaite while two balls later he got out Shamarh Brooks plumb in front. On the last delivery of his over, Boland edged Jermaine Blackwood straight to Cameron Green standing at&nbsp;the gully position. With these three scalps so far, Boland has extended his Test wickets tally to 21 at an astonishing average of 9.81.
