The US intelligence agencies briefed former President Donald Trump of "real and specific" threats from Iran to assassinate him, his presidential campaign said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 24). The statement highlighted that the threat of assassination was an effort to destabilise and "sow chaos" in the US.&nbsp;

“President Trump was briefed earlier today by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence regarding real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him in an effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States,” Steven Cheung, Trump's Campaign communications director said on Tuesday night.

Later, Donald Trump in a social media post on X, said that big threats are there on his life by Iran, adding that moves were already made, but did not work out.&nbsp;

"Big threats on my life by Iran. The entire U.S. Military is watching and waiting. Moves were already made by Iran that didn’t work out, but they will try again. Not a good situation for anyone. I am surrounded by more men, guns, and weapons than I have ever seen before. Thank you to Congress for unanimously approving far more money to Secret Service - Zero “NO” Votes, strictly bipartisan. Nice to see Republicans and Democrats get together on something. An attack on a former President is a Death Wish for the attacker!," he wrote on X.&nbsp;

Cheung said that intelligence officials have identified these "continued and coordinated" attacks increased in recent months and law enforcement officials across all agencies have been working to ensure Trump is protected and the upcoming elections are free from interference.&nbsp;

Earlier, two assassination attempts have been made on Republican presidential nominee Trump.&nbsp;

The first failed assassination attempt on Trump was made on July 12, during one of his rallies in Butler, Pennsylvania, when a bullet grazed his ear.&nbsp;

The second attempt&nbsp;was made on September 15 at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. In the latest development, Ryan Routh, the gunman who attempted to kill Trump has been charged with 'attempted assassination' by the prosecutors, on Wednesday.&nbsp;

'Big threats on my life by Iran': Trump says after US intelligence warns him of assassination threat

A 30-year-old man was arrested in New Hampshire for sending threatening messages to Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy ahead of a scheduled campaign event.

The perpetrator, who was arrested on Saturday (Dec 9), was identified as Tyler Anderson. He was charged with sending a threat using interstate commerce.

He was produced before the court on Monday (Dec 11) where he remained silent other than telling the judge he understood the proceedings. A detention hearing was scheduled for Thursday.

<h2>Ramaswamy expresses gratitude for swift action&nbsp;</h2>

A spokesperson for Ramaswamy said that the texts were directed at his campaign, in which Tyler had threatened to assassinate the Republican leader ahead of his event.

“We are grateful to law enforcement for their swiftness and professionalism in handling this matter and pray for the safety of all Americans,” Stefan Mychajliw, deputy communications director, said in a statement.

Ramaswamy also expressed his gratitude to law enforcement agencies for their swift action.

“I'm grateful for the team that's around us and they've been doing a great job in making sure that I'm kept safe," he said.

According to court documents, the man received a text message from the candidate’s campaign on Friday notifying him of Monday’s breakfast event in Portsmouth.

In response, the campaign staff received two text messages, one threatening to shoot Ramaswamy in the head, and the other threatening to kill everyone at the event and desecrate their corpses.

The FBI said they zeroed in on the man&nbsp;by tracing his cellphone number, following which the agents landed at the man’s home on Saturday and arrested him.

<h2>Accused can be sent to prison for up to 5 years&nbsp;</h2>

The texts were found in a deleted folder, the FBI affidavit said.

According to the affidavit, the man, during the interrogation, told the FBI that he had sent similar texts to “multiple other campaigns”.

The document also includes a screenshot of texts threatening a mass shooting in response to an invitation to see a candidate “who isn’t afraid to tell it like it is.”

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday criticised nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar for earlier saying that the BJP was playing a "threat letter card" to gain sympathy.

On Sunday, amid the controversy over an alleged plot to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pawar on Sunday had said that the threat letter was being used to win people's sympathy.

He said, "They say there was a threatening letter. I spoke to a retired police officer, who had worked for CID. He said there is no substance in the letter. The letter is being used to garner people`s sympathy."

However, Fadnavis slammed Pawar and tweeted that the former was not expected to "stoop down to this level".

"It is very unfortunate that Sharad Pawar ji is raising doubts about the communication ceased by the police which revels the plot to assassin Hon PM Narendra Modi ji. Hon PM Narendra Modi ji is the leader of our nation and not just of a political party," Fadnavis tweeted.

"@PawarSpeaks is not expected to stoop down to this level. Police has all the evidences and truth will prevail," his tweet further stated.

In a tweet in Marathi, Fadnavis said that "Pawar ji should play politics of the nation and not politics of hatred."&nbsp;

Earlier, claiming that the people arrested for inciting the Bhima -Koregaon violence were innocent, Pawar said, "When like-minded people came together to organise Elgar Parishad, they were called Naxals and arrested. Everyone knows who executed the Bhima-Koregaon violence, but those who have no link with it were arrested. This is a misuse of power."
