Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led&nbsp;government has blasted the opposition parties for criticism against the recently unveiled National Emblem—the four lions—who found it to be “bold” and “ferocious”.

In a series of tweets, housing and urban affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri defended the depiction of the national emblem, asserting&nbsp;that there are no major differences between the original Sarnath emblem and the one installed atop the new Parliament building.

“Beauty is famously regarded as lying in the eyes of the beholder. So is the case with calm &amp; anger.”

Providing a “sense of proportion and perspective”, Puri said that the Sarnath emblem is 1.6m tall while the latest depiction is 6.5m.

He argued that an exact replica of the original, if placed on the new building, would be barely visible beyond the peripheral rail.

The minister said it is imperative to appreciate the impact of “angle, height &amp; scale when comparing the two structures.”

“The 'experts' should also know that the original placed in Sarnath is at ground level while the new emblem is at a height of 33 mtrs from ground,” he added.

“If one looks at the Sarnath emblem from below it would look as calm or angry as the one being discussed.”

The row over the looks of the national emblem erupted after the opposition parties said they were not invited to the ceremony when Prime Minister Modi unveiled the&nbsp;National Emblem on Monday.

Congress party said that the lions at the original site in Sarnath were “graceful and regally confident”, while the replica over the new Parliament was “menacing” and had an “aggressive posture”.

Rajya Sabha MP and Congress’ in-charge of communications Jairam Ramesh tweeted pictures of the original Lion Capital at Sarnath and the emblem unveiled on Monday to compare the two.

“To completely change the character and nature of the lions on the Ashoka Pillar at Sarnath is nothing but a brazen insult to India’s National Symbol,” he tweeted.

The opposition leaders’ main concern was on the expression and the visible fangs of the emblem on top of the new Parliament building.

However, Rath said that the people of Odisha had not forgiven Khan for 'insulting their sentiments and distorting history in his film 'Ashoka' which 17 years back. &nbsp;

The Kalinga Sena had demanded an apology from Shah Rukh who played the lead role and was also the producer of the film, alleging that the film dishonoured the state’s culture and by portraying the Kalinga War in a wrong manner.

Earlier, the Hockey India President, in a letter, had appealed to the outfit not to protest against Khan’s visit. “Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most popular actors of India and is widely known in the hockey community for his support for hockey and movie Chak de India and because of this he has been invited to attend the opening ceremony,” said Ahmad.

“Throwing ink on someone who has been invited as a guest shall bring a bad name to India and will show Odisha in a very poor light in front of all international guests, including the teams,” he added.

Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and music director AR Rahman will perform during the inaugural ceremony of the Men’s Hockey World Cup at Kalinga Stadium here on Tuesday.

Hemant Rath, the chief of the outfit which calls itself 'Kalinga Sena', has demanded an apology from Khan for allegedly insulting Odisha and its people in his film 'Ashoka' that was made 17 years ago. 
 
The outfit had also filed a complaint with the police here on November 1 alleging that Khan has hurt the sentiment of Odia people and dishonoured the state's culture by portraying the Kalinga war in a wrong manner. 
 
The Kalinga (historical name of Odisha) war was fought in 265 BC in which Emperor Ashoka defeated the Kalinga king and the kingdom was annexed to the Mauryan empire. The war is considered one of the bloodiest battles and had prompted Ashoka to embrace Buddhism. 
 
"We have made preparation to throw ink on the actor's face and show him black flag at any place from the airport to the stadium. Our activists will remain present all along the road where Khan is likely to visit," the press statement issued by Kalinga Sena general secretary Nihar Pani said. 
 
'Ashoka', which was released in 2001, could not run in the theatres in the state for more than seven days due to protests. 
 
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has invited Khan, who is slated to be present at the Kalinga Stadium on November 27 during the inauguration of the Men's Hockey World Cup. 
Kalinga Sena had held a rally here on November 11 and burnt SRK's effigy as a mark of protest. 
 
A senior police officer said adequate security arrangements will be made for all the visiting VVIPs including Khan.&nbsp;
