In the last ten years, he rebranded himself as 'Peer Baba' or Hazrat Jalaluddin, a Sufi-style preacher who worked from an ashram in the vicinity of the shrine of Chandaulia Baba in Balrampur, near the India-Nepal border.&nbsp;Senior police officers said Chhangur Baba and his companions allegedly constructed a massive realty empire worth more than ₹300 crore, spread over Balrampur, neighboring UP districts, and Pune in Maharashtra. The accused allegedly owned luxury cars, bungalows, and more than three dozen properties, some of which were registered on the names of his associates or NGOs.&nbsp;"Chhangur Baba and his friends had visited various Islamic nations more than 50 times in recent years," a high-ranking police officer was quoted saying to Hindustan Times. The high-ranking police officer further said that foreign funding is under suspicion for the ₹106 crore suspicious transactions found in more than a dozen bank accounts related to NGOs floated by the accused.&nbsp;“Moreover, the kingpin has formed as many as 40 different organisations and opened as many bank accounts in their names. The UP ATS investigation revealed the transactions of over ₹100 crore from these bank accounts in the past few years and they suspect foreign funding behind all these transactions,” a senior police official close to the investigation told Hindustan Times. &nbsp;On July 5, Chhangur Baba and Nasreen alias Neetu Naveen Rohra were apprehended in a case of suspected forced religious conversions on several charges under the Indian Penal Code and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021. Nasreen's husband Jamaluddin alias Naveen Rohra and Mehboob, Jalaluddin's son, were apprehended in April in relation to the same case. The ATS continues to pursue on the trail of 14 other co-accused.&nbsp;The aforementioned NGOs, the ATS claims, were a sham to channel crores, and the ED has now initiated a money laundering investigation under PMLA. One of the major exposes is a ₹16 crore land transaction in Maharashtra's Pune, purportedly by a court clerk from Uttar Pradesh's Utraula and his wife, involving a profit-sharing arrangement.&nbsp;The nerve center of the illegal empire was a three-bigha plot in Madhpur village within Uttaraula tehsil in UP's Balrampur, with CCTV surveillance and accommodations for more than 50 individuals. Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested five people and seized 129 kilograms of drugs along with over Rs one crore in cash from their possession.

The ATS has arrested them from Mumbai on Monday and Tuesday. According to the police, three accused have been sent to custody till September 16 while two others will be produced in court on Wednesday.&nbsp;

"ATS team had conducted search yesterday and today and we have seized 129 kilograms of MD drug. Initially, we had recovered 9 kilograms of drugs and later during or investigation we had also recovered one factory premise in Navi Mumbai, where the search is still underway. We had recovered another 120 kilograms of drugs from there which makes a total os 129 kilograms of drugs," said a police official while addressing a presser.

"We have also recovered Rs 1 crore 4 lakh in cash from the factory premise.

According to the information we have received, this network was operating on a large scale in Mumbai.

These are one of the main suppliers of drugs in the city. They used to handle everything from manufacturing to supplying," he added.

The police are further probing the case and trying to search for other connections in this network.

A suspected Islamic State militant was arrested from Thane district of India&#39;s western Maharastra state on Friday.&nbsp;The suspect, Rizwan Khan, was arrested last night in a joint operation by police of southern Kerala state and Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). 
 
He was produced in a Mumbai court today, which sent him to a transit remand till July 25.&nbsp;His lawyer, IO Khan, said that Rizwan was innocent and has been kept in custody, illegally. 
 
&quot;Since last three to four days he is in illegal custody. Why they have taken illegal custody to him, that we cannot say right now. Let&#39;s see on 25th, they will produce him before the appropriate court in Ernakulam. So, we will see and definitely he is absolutely innocent. He has nothing to do with the matter,&quot; said the lawyer. 
 
This is the second arrest by Kerala police in the last few days, who have been camping in Mumbai over the last week.&nbsp;Earlier this week, Kerala police arrested 45-year-old Arshid Qureshi, a public relation manager with controversial preacher Zakir Naik&#39;s Islamic Research Foundation, from Mumbai for allegedly radicalising youth and recruiting them to Islamic State. 
 
Islamic State has struggled to win over recruits in India, which is home to the world&#39;s third-largest Muslim population.&nbsp;Indian police arrested 29 men last year for establishing bases to recruit men to the Islamist militant group. All men were charged with conspiracy to wage war against the state. 
 
A handful of Indians are also suspected of having travelled to Iraq and Syria to join Islamic State, where the group is fighting to install an Islamic caliphate.
