With the acquisition of Bahrain's Aluminium smelter, Saudi Arabia is moving closer to its goal of making mining and metals the "third pillar" of its economy. The state-controlled Saudi mining company, known as Maaden, announced a series of deals this week involving Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C., or Alba.
