WSJ report: China has constructed and expanded a series of airfields over the past decade—some of the world's highest among them—to project power across its rugged western frontier and over the Himalayas. Most of the sites are at altitudes greater than 13,000 feet, in terrain so inhospitable it long deterred such militarization.
