Bharatiya Janata Party President JP Nadda on Sunday said that the Indian economy, now standing at $2.94 trillion, is steadily moving forward towards $5 trillion, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"India is now the 5th largest economy in the world with a GDP of $2.94 Trillion. Under the visionary leadership of PM Narendra Modi Ji, the country is moving steadily towards $5 trillion economy goal. This is the impact of the progressive economic schemes and measures of the govt," Nadda's tweet read.

Giving credit to the Centre, the BJP chief further said that the country has seen tremendous growth in all sectors due to the "visionary steps and futuristic budget."

"India has shown tremendous growth in all sectors, with a rise in purchasing power parity, reflecting the positive impact of visionary steps and futuristic budget of the government," his second tweet read.

Minister of Commerce and Industry and Railways Piyush Goyal on Friday said that $5 trillion economy is an achievable goal in the coming five years.

"India has a rich pool of management talent. Millions of people have devoted their life serving the nation, serving corporations, serving businesses and serving the government. $5 trillion economy is something that 1.3 billion people will be engaged in creating. It is an achievable goal in the coming five years," he said.

Goyal, who was speaking at the All India Management Association's (AIMA) 64th foundation day and 14th National Management Day, also urged all to come together with collaboration and cooperation, for fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision and mission for the $5 trillion economy, and truly making India a superpower.

Goyal said the MSME is a sector which truly deserves recognition because some of them are doing truly wonderful work.

MSMEs are the largest creator of jobs, largest exporters and largest contributors to the ecosystem and India as a nation cannot survive without them.

"We should all ensure on becoming a nation builder and take our governance and good management practices to the remotest parts of the country," added Goyal.

$5 trillion economy an achievable goal in coming 5 years: Piyush Goyal

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that the aim of making India a 5 trillion dollar economy would only be achieved if country's national security remains intact.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to make 5 trillion economy. For this, the security of the country is very important. There is a need to maintain internal and external security of the country," he said while addressing the 49th foundation day celebrations of BPR&amp;D in New Delhi.

He continued, "More than 34 thousand police personnel have sacrificed their lives for maintaining internal security, Now it is important to move forward."

Speaking about police reforms, he said, "We need to bring reforms in the police force in accordance with the changing challenges. But police reform is a huge concept and therefore it needs to be redesigned by the BPR&amp;D."

"A consultation process must also start across the country for making necessary changes within the CrPC and IPC. Everyone must send their suggestions to the Home Ministry. We need to move forward in bringing changes in CrPc and IPC," he added.

He also stressed upon promoting Forensic Science universities and colleges so that culprits can be booked expeditiously.

"This will help us to provide speedy justice to victims and will also reduce the mindset of committing crimes among masses," he added.

In his concluding remark, Shah stressed that the forces must adopt scientific methods for investigations and modernisation should be carried out in a proper manner.&nbsp;

Union commerce and industry minister Suresh Prabhu on Friday exuded confidence that India will become a $5 trillion economy in the next seven years, adding that India will be a bigger economy than China at some point of time.

India&rsquo;s GDP, at present, is estimated $2.5 trillion and that of China is $11.85 trillion. In October-December quarter, India posted a GDP growth of 7.2% to reclaim the tag of world&rsquo;s fastest-growing major economy from China.

&ldquo;I am very sure, you take a medium term, India will grow at a much faster rate. We will be a five-trillion-dollar economy in seven years&rsquo; time,&rdquo; Prabhu said at an event in New Delhi.

The minister said that his ministry has already prepared a paper on how India can become a larger economy. He said the manufacturing sector would contribute $1 trillion, services sector $3 trillion and the rest would come from agriculture for the country to become a $5 trillion economy in the next seven years.

&ldquo;After that, in next 7-10 years time, maybe a $10 trillion economy. China still will be growing. I am not saying China is just going to wait there at $11.8 trillion, but when they will start slowing down, we will start growing faster. I am sure one day we will be a bigger economy,&rdquo; the minister said.

Prabhu also spoke about various steps being taken by the government to increase India&rsquo;s exports. He also expressed concern over &ldquo;growing voices of protectionism&rdquo; and said that opening up of economies is necessary for global growth. &ldquo;We have seen after formation of WTO all the countries have benefited. Some countries benefited obviously more than others like China is the biggest beneficiary of WTO,&rdquo; he said.

The talks at the WTO&rsquo;s 11th ministerial at Buenos Aires in December had collapsed with the US going back on its commitment to finding a permanent solution to the public food stockholding, a key issue for developing countries like India. Soon after the collapse of the talks, Prabhu had announced that India would be hosting a mini-ministerial with a view to breaking the deadlock.

The informal WTO mini-ministerial is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on 19-20 March with an aim to find out common ground to carry forward the mandate of World Trade Organization.
