<p>Death toll in the Mandya bus mishap in Karnataka&nbsp;rose to 30, reported news agency ANI. Schoolchildren were among the dead after a bus plunged into a canal on&nbsp;Saturday.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>News agency AFP&nbsp;quoting sources said police have retrieved 28 bodies from the private passenger bus after it veered off the road and fell into the canal.</p>

<p>Most of the victims are school children, they said, adding that they were returning home after half-a-day at school.</p>

<p>Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has spoken to district in-charge minister C S Puttaraju and district Deputy Commissioner and directed them to visit the spot immediately and oversee the rescue operation.&nbsp;</p>
