Kane has already equalled Lineker's 6-goal feat in Mexico '86

Stricker-cum-captain Harry Kane's hunger for goals has now become legendary, not just for Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League but also for England.

He has now taken goal-scoring to an altogether new level setting his sights on winning the Golden Boot award in the World Cup in Russia, the first Englishman sinceGary Linkear who won it in 1986.

'Maradona's Cup' in Mexico was overshadowed by Linker's exploits who scored six goals to win the Golden Boot, Kane has already equalled the former Tottenham star's 6-goal feat, and now seems hungry for more, Sweden for sure has plans for the England captain.

Linekeris best remembered by English fans for his Italia '90 exploits where he equalised against West Germany in the semi-finals, only to see his team go down in shootouts - a hurdle which the current England side seems to have got past judging by their performance against Columbia in the nerve-racking final shootout.

Having hit a hat-trick against Panama and brace against Tunisia in the group stage, Kane added goal No-6 to his tally in the dramatic victory over Colombia in the round of 16. His goals now include three penalties – two against Panama and one against Colombia.

Kane's penalty spot kick against Colombia helped England to take the lead in the crucial tie in Moscow. He has now scored in six successive games - a feat last achieved by Tommy Lawton between October 1938 and May 1939.

The Tottenham striker was handed the captain's armband by manager Gareth Southgate ahead of the World Cup and he is repaying that faith in abundance, making history along the way.

And 32 years on, Kane is set to not just emulate but even surpass the standards set by the great Gary Lineker as he seeks to set a new English and World Cup record in Russia.
