Novak Djokovic gave a bizarre press conference after facing the shocking defeat by world number 72 Marco Cecchinato 6-3, 7-6(4), 1-6, 7-6(11) at the French Open on Tuesday.

Unseeded Marco Cecchinato suffered neck pain in the opening set but cruised through successfully and became the first Italian man to reach a Grand Slam semi-final in 40 years. He will face Dominic Thiem in the semi-final.

The last Italian man to take part in a major semi-final was Corrado Barazzutti at the 1978 French Open.

After crashing out, admitted that he had been struggling with a niggling injury throughout the match, but he grew increasingly frustrated when questioned on his performance.

Most players at Roland Garros report to the main interview room where they interact win the media but Djokovic, on the contrary, went to the secondary room.

According to some media reports, the Serb was "super angry" while interacting with media. He also cast doubt over said, "I don't know if I'm going to play on the grass."

Semi-finalist Cecchinato broke down in tears after the match and said, "Am I dreaming? Maybe I'm sleeping? I don't understand nothing."

The defeat was almost like a shock to the former champion and 12-time winner Djokovic.
