Mumbai Indians seamer mourns Charlie Kirk’s shocking death, posts Instagram story

Charlie Kirk’s death sent shockwaves around the globe after he was fatally shot in the neck during a scheduled appearance at Utah Valley University earlier this week. The conservative activist was killed at the very first stop of his planned 14-campus tour for the fall, as also recalled by one of the witnesses, who revealed how, just after he was asked a question about mass shootings by transgender individuals, a disaster unfolded in front of everyone's eyes. Tributes across several sports kept pouring in for Kirk, including from the Mumbai Indians (in the IPL) seamer, who took to his Instagram handle to do his bit.

The 25-year-old Indian seamer and son of legendary cricketer Arjun Tendulkar posted a photo of Kirk with a message for the departed soul, writing ‘RIP @CHARLIEKIRK1776,’ while adding teary-eyed emojis to express sadness over this unfortunate incident.

Meanwhile, the rookie all-rounder recently made headlines for his return to cricket following a seven-month hiatus; even early last month, news of his engagement to Saaniya Chandok broke the internet.

However, upon his return to the field, Arjun claimed to have struck gold with his first delivery in competitive cricket, further bagging a five-for in the match.

Moreover, since making his senior debut for Mumbai in domestic cricket before switching to Goa, the left-arm quick has featured for the Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL. While he played four matches in his maiden season (in 2023), picking three wickets at a worrying economy of 9.36, Arjun played just one match in the next edition, remaining wicketless. He, however, failed to secure a spot in the playing XI in any of the IPL 2025 matches.

On the domestic front, Arjun has scored a hundred and two fifties in first-class cricket, alongside picking 37 wickets in 17 matches.
