Marizanne Kapp stayed calm under pressure, hitting a boundary off a low full-toss and stealing a leg bye on another ball. Despite Ecclestone’s tight bowling, Kapp managed to finished the match with a boundary on the last ball. With this win, the Delhi Capitals have finally opened their tournament account, earning two important points with a dominant seven-wicket victory over the UP Warriorz.

Delhi finally made a breakthrough in the 12th over as Asha dismissed Shafali for 36. Three overs later, Deepti claimed the key wicket of Lee for 67. After that, Laura Wolvaardt and captain Jemimah Rodrigues took control of the chase. The team now needs only a few more runs to win, with eight wickets still in hand.

In case you missed, there's will be no crowd today (Jan 14) and tomorrow (Jan 15) in WPL 2026 matches because of the municipal body elections in Mumbai on Thursday (Jan 15).

The BCCI announced the scheduled for the WPL on November 29 while the Mumbai municipal body (BMC) election date was announced on December 15.

The two teams played last time in WPL 2025 group stage match on Feb 22 in Bengaluru with UPW coming out as winners.

Batting first, UP Warriorz posted 177/9 in 20 overs. For them, Chinelle Henry scored 62 off just 23 balls that too at number 8. Delhi bowlers had done well till Henry came to bat with Jess Johnson taking 4/31 but they gave away 25 extras - more than UPW's second highest run scorer of the innings - Tahlia McGrath (24).

Chasing the total, Delhi were led by Jemimah Rodrigues' 56 but she could not get enough support from the other end. DC-W were eventually bowled out for 144 in 19.3 overs, losing the match by 33 runs. For UPW, Kranti Goud and Grace Harris took four wickets each.
