Pakistan produced an improved batting show against India in their second face-off against the arch-rivals in this tournament, hitting 171 for five in 20 overs. While India's bowling was poor, it was their fielding that hurt them the most. 

Shivam Dube turns out to be India's best bowler on the day, picking up two wickets, including Sahibzada Farhan on 58. Pakistan lost three wickets quickly. 

Shivam Dube got the big fish in Saim Ayub on 21, with Abhishek Sharma completing a wonderful catch in the deep. Pakistan is 93 for two inside 11 overs. 

Sahibzada Farhan completed his 50 against India as Pakistan dominated arch-rivals in Dubai. The Men in Blue dropped three catches, with Pakistani batters making the most of those chances.

A simple catch in short third man and Kuldeep Yadav keep the ball into his hands. Varun finds the top edge of Saim Ayub and Yadav fails to settle under it and drops a simple chance.

This is India's second drop of the match, after Abhishek Sharma dropped Farhan in the first over of the match.

India has got the big fish in dangerous Fakhar Zaman, with Hardik Pandya removing him on 15 off nine balls. The Men in Green are 21 for one in 2.4 overs. 

A rare poor over from Jasprit Bumrah. This is a good show of intent from Pakistan as they try to put pressure on the only specialist fast bowler that India have in their line-up.

Hardik Pandya nearly had a wicket in the first over for the second consecutive time against Pakistan. Sahibzada Farhan, who had top-scored for the Men in Green last Sunday, gets a lifeline on 0.

After batting three ducks in as many matches in the group stage, Saim Ayub has been dropped down the order. Fakhar Zaman is opening with Sahibzada Farhan. Saim Ayub is likely to bat at No. 4. 

Just gets easier to bat in the second innings, nothing to do about the surface. It’s about the weather. Both captains said they wanted to field first. It has played pretty good throughout the tournament. We have seen scores of 150-160. As the ball gets older, it does grip. Matches have been played here for almost 8-10 days here and it will assist spin. You got to get used to the conditions when you are batting first. Give yourself that extra bit of time to get used to the pace and bounce. Same nature of pitch for Sri Lanka v Bangladesh and 160 wasn’t enough. If Pakistan want to make India sweat it will have to be in excess of 180-200 and that’s not going to be easy.

Suryakumar Yadav: Looks a nice track and yesterday there was dew. Since first round we were thinking we’re playing a knockout tournament, nothing changes. That was a completely different wicket (in Abu Dhabi). Quite normal, just another game.

Salman Agha: Would’ve bowled first as well. It’s a new game, new challenge. The mood is very normal. Pitch looks to be on the slower side. Want to start well with both bat and ball.

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has opted to field first having won the toss at the Dubai International Stadium. India look to extend winning run against Pakistan. 

Last time India faced Pakistan, the Men in Blue beat their arch-rivals by seven wickets and won Group A of the Asia Cup 2025. Suryakumar Yadav and Co then walked out of the contest without shaking hands with the opposition. 

Pakistan’s last Asia Cup win over India came in the 2022 edition in the UAE. Mohammad Rizwan top-scored with 71 runs in the Super Four clash, but it was Mohammad Nawaz’s 20-ball 41 that took Pakistan over the line in the run chase.

The weather is forecast to be hot and humid, with highs of 41C (106F) and partial cloud cover. It will get slightly cooler in the evening as the match will start just after sunset, and the temperature is likely to drop to 31C (88F). Let’s hope the temperatures stay cool both on and off the field.

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has suggested that India should play Arshdeep Singh.

"I will stick to my words, what I said before the start of the Asia Cup. I would want to see Arshdeep play with (Jasprit) Bumrah because a situation could come where you might need a second fast bowler. When the ball gets wet and you are under pressure, is Hardik's (Pandya) strength bowling six yorkers, or can Shivam Dube bowl those yorkers consistently?,” Pathan said on Sony Sports.
